Having to throw my SimSig rulebook out of the window - Class 1 stopper following Class 2 express? Class 1 on the slow while a class 2 is on the fast?

Glad there's no real commuters on these trains; I'm having great fun despite that!

There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

Almost as good as trains runing to Reigate as class 1s but class 2s on the way back.

It's a man's railway on the Southern. Which explains a lot

Will post my query here rather than starting a new thread.

Am new to ARS operations, but appear to have a problem at Elephant & Castle:

As far as can work out, trains on Holborn US that need to reverse at E&C plat 2 won't pass signal 396 on ARS.

I manually route the train (knocking out ARS and then reinstating) and all is well.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

Screengrab attached as an example.

This is actually covered in the manual

Quote:
VS802

(Modern era only) Route must be set from VS802 to VS800 before route is set from VS396 to VS800. ARS cannot set routes in reverse order so this move must be made manually.

Ha! Was just about to make the above observation from personal experience!

24 hours ago I said I wouldn't ask questions that were covered in the manual...

To be fair, its quite a lot to take in for a newbie!

No problem manually reversing train - doesn't knock out ARS as I previously claimed - and gives me a job when ARS makes me redundant!

Superb sim, worth every penny - must a-bed before playing further!

Chris

I have always followed the same procedure when learning a new sim:

Download the sim
Read the manual, but not in too much detail to start with - just a general overview
Play the sim
When something weird happens, pause and look at the manual again to find the answer
Find answer
If you can't find the answer, search the forum using likely keywords
If you still can't find the answer, post on the forum

Saves all sorts of bother.

Excellent advice lazzer.
Will take on board and accept my mild slap on the wrist for posting queries about issues that are fully covered in the comprehensive manual

I noticed that - why? The Tattenham trains are class 1 both ways and the Horshams class 2 both ways.
