Glasgow QS Seed Trains 07/07/2014 at 11:25 #62524

Afternoon all,

I am currently working on a new timetable for Central Scotland and would like help on a couple of things:

1. There are a number of seed trains at Stirling as well as two at Glasgow Queen Street. However I just loaded up the TT to check the seeds were OK. The seed trains at Stirling all appeared but I am having trouble with the two that should appear at Glasgow Queen Street:

- 1R02 0600 Glasgow QS - Edinburgh (dep. P2)
- 1R08 0700 Glasgow QS - Edinburgh (dep. P5)

I have tried using two seed locations (first GQ Platform 2 and then SCQ72 for 1R02, as well as GQ Platform 5 and then SCQ 66 for 1R08) but the two trains don't seed on either setting. I have tried altering the Incident options to say that these trains MUST appear and I have had the settings that both trains run 100% of the time. Anyone know, therefore, why the trains won't seed, and how I can fix this?

2. I have no knowledge of the area. What train types run on each of the services? I guess I could just have the traction types saying "Pathed as....." but it may be better to put them in: I don't know. I sure don't know what settings to use for the London Euston - Inverness sleeper.

Any help on either point would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Dave

Are the train's timetables valid? I seeded at P5 and P2 on my 2013 TT and it worked fine.

Oban/Fort William/Mallaig services are Class 156s (only suitable units cleared for the line), 1Rxx tend to be 170, but there may be some 158s. Edinburgh- Dunblane tends to be 158.

Inverness sleeper is Class 67+ 8, Fort William portion is Class 67+ 5. Max speed is 80mph.

I've lost track of things due to live updates now running ahead of what is available for download. However, I believe that the platform occupation at Queen St is now or will soon be based on "axle counters". That means that the platforms won't accept a seed train as they can't keep tally of the occupation. Any trains due to seed at Queen St will have to enter elsewhere (like CQ59 or CQ251) and run into the platform. That may need fictional ECS 5R01 to form 1R01 out of Queen St etc.

I think it was all something to do with making the overlength alarms work more realistically.

The changes (will) apply to both CScot and Cowlairs sims.

Can be either 170 or 158, I see just as many 170's as 158's passing my window. Very rarely a 156 though.

Glasgow - Edinburgh is usually always 170, doubled up in the peaks.
Glasgow/Edinburgh - Dunblane/Aberdeen/Inverness could be either 158 or 170.
Oban/Mallaig is always 156, doubled up if it splits at Crianlarich

Inverness beds is 67+8 coaches (2xMkII 6xMkIII)
Fort William beds is 67+4 coaches (2xMkII 2xMkIII)

Thank you all for your answers. What of the Alloa services?

As above - 170, 158, very occasional 156. The thing with the Central Scotland diagrams is that they go all over the place - a Fife circle might go on to work a Dunblane, an Alloa-Glasgow might go on to work to Dunblane, Perth or even Aberdeen. 156's tend to stick to Glasgow-Cumbernauld(before the wires)/Grahamston and Glasgow-Anniesland and WHL but do occasionally stray onto other diagrams.

And another one. I can't persuade the CS sim to accept the path between Sighthill West Jcn and Cowlairs West on this one. So if I take out Cowlair West Jcn - leaving Eastfield HS as the next destination it doesn't like that. And it doesn't like it either if I miss out Sighthill West Jcn altogether.

Any ideas?

Works for me if I follow it as on RTT, and not including Sighthill West.

e: TMD not HS.

The train should use the location Eastfield TMD- for some reason it's been renamed Eastfield H.S. (Holding Sidings?) in real life, whereas the simulation has used Eastfield HS to describe the headshunt behind CC532, hence the pathing error. The path Springburn> Cowlairs West Jn> Eastfield TMD works.

Thanks to all who have helped me to date with this new TT I am working on. I currently have 150 tgrains written in and 134 of those are ECS (5xxx) trains. Should be quite busy when / if I get it finished.

Another question though: I have platforms at Stirling taken up by seed trains at the start of the TT. However none of them are due to move until 0529hrs but they ring in nearly an hour early all wanting to depart. And that despite having the departure times written in from the Platforms although the departure times don't display as the first thing when the timetable is viewed. The same goes for 5V35 which starts from the Cumbernauld Turnback instead of a depot.

How can I stop those trains ringing in?

Seeding on CScot works differently to the Loader- you have to specify a location before the location at which the train seeds. So if you're seeding in Stirling, set the first location as Plean, then enter Stirling and the rest as normal.

Thanks for that. I have added Plean as the first location and just left "00:00" as a departure time.
