Hi all - I hope that one day the minimum speed of sim operation will be reduced further but until or if that happens - do any of you know of a way to slow the internal time of a computer so that by running slower the minimum speed of a sim would also be slower? As always - any thoughts appreciated. Nick Log in to reply |

Just pause it from time to time?

Like Belly Buster has said, you can pause a sim from time to time to signal routes. Leave as many routes as you dare in Auto, but remember you need to cancel routes as early as possible when a train wants a different route. Finally, use the Overview screen to show you a miniature version of the sin, you can click on that to move quickly from area to area. I hope this helps. If you're really struggling with a sim in particular then you should try another one. Log in to reply |

Hi - don't worry I'm not struggling. I'm currently running West Hampstead and Victoria Eastern chained (without ARS) I can just about manage it but want to add Vic Central. Crazy I know but I'd do it if I could get them to run slower! Nick. Log in to reply |

Nick, how many screens (computer monitors) are there in your setup? The more one has, the easier it is to run wide layouts as one doesn't have to keep jumping back and forth. It also pays to take the time to discover how much one can accomplish while the sim is paused. It surprised me. I seldom play at slower than 1:1 speed now as everything happens so much more slowly (and less realistically) I fall asleep. I find it more satisfying to pause the sim more frequently, and for longer, than slow it down. However, I haven't yet chained sims. Last edited: 12/07/2014 at 13:00 by maxand Log in to reply |

Vic Central alone has over 2000. Nick I take my hat off to you with your efforts so far. Next you'll be saying you run them with failures on too Gareth Log in to reply |

Just the one screen (maxand) - basically sweep from left to right on one then click the other sim and do a sweep on that one and repeat - but definitely no failures! (TimTamToe) I'd just like to slow it down a little so I get a bit more thinking time - of course I can pause and sometimes do. The idea that with an even slower speed I could add Vic Central then signal all the way from Sutton to Bedford has considerable appeal. Nick Log in to reply |

Phew no failures otherwise you'd be some sort of signalling alien lol. I can definitely see the appeal in chaining all 3 and trying single handed and see if you can keep FCC trains on time when FCC can't themselves lol Log in to reply |

That's exactly it. I like to see a train to its destination if possible rather than give a whole pile of woe to another signaller down the track. Marylebone, Kings Cross and Exeter are good for a high percentage of in-sim starting and terminating trains.
