Hello, I've just been playing around with the various train options in the timetable editor in the Brighton sim, and from what I can see the train weight option seems to make no difference to the performance of the train. I created two train types exactly the same (100mph Limit, High Accel/Brake Rate, 3rd Rail etc), but I selected one as 'Light' and the other 'Heavy'. I'm not expecting huge differences in the performance, but the 'Heavy' option actually seemed to be a few seconds quicker on the acceleration! Am I doing something wrong or does it only work with certain combinations/sims? I tested it by creating the two trains to enter at Balcome Tunnel Jn, with a stop at Haywards Heath and then fast to Brighton. I timed the braking from 90mph down to the stop at Haywards Heath and then the acceleration on departure up to 90mph. Regards, James Last edited: 13/07/2014 at 14:45 by J5flyer Log in to reply |

It affects train performance over steep gradients - thus won't be noticeable on a relatively flat line as found on Brighton sim

Thanks for that - it would explain the results I got. I was originally going by the manual where it says: "Weight - Enables finer control of the Acceleration/Braking performance of the train", and I was hoping I could alter the train performance under normal conditions in that way to get something inbetween 'Medium' and 'High' set rates for example.
