Hi. I've just tried to download Kings Cross, but when the download bar was at 99%, a box came up saying something like Error cannot copy [Sim] please make sure the disk is not full or write- protected. I tried various other sims, some found on the wiki, downloaded to a different folder on my computer and still the box came up. I don't know wheteher this is my computer, the download or a virus at either end. Any help much appreciated "Don't stress/ relax/ let life roll off your backs./ Except for death and paying taxes/ everything in life.../ is only for now." (Avenue Q) Log in to reply |

Sorry, before anyone asks the exact text in the box is: Cannot copy [SIM]: Access is denied Make sure the disk is not full or write- protected and the file is not already in use. I clicked 'OK'and a box came up asking if I wanted to cancel the download. 'NO' resulted in the same error mesage, 'YES', obviously, canceled the download. You don't mention which browser you are using so this is a general explanation. When the browser starts downloading a file it puts it in a temporary folder, often with an obscure filename, partly to reduce the risk of you opening it before it's finished downloading. When the file has completed downloading the browser then attempts to copy it from the temporary folder into the folder you initially selected. So as far as SimSig is concerned, it has downloaded successfully but It sounds like it is this copying process within your PC which is failing. As to why, it could be quite a few things - e.g. insufficient disc space, virus scanner reporting a false positive, or you don't have permissions to the destination folder. Try a download from a different website and see whether the results are the same.

I'd recommend a different browser (not just for this specifically but in general), IE is pretty bad.

I don't know about changing browser, however the problem has now cleared.
