I'm running Windows 7, but this is something I've never tried before. Looks like I'll have to experiment with 'Paint' & see if I can get it to work. I dare it's fairly simple to do, but having never tried this before it seems a bit daunting. Watch this space. But thanks for letting me know.

" said:The 2 tracks bearing off the the left next to the loco were what remained of the now closed M&GN Joint line to Spalding & beyond. The majority of the freight traffic went via that route, but when that line closed in the mid 1980s everything ran via Peterborough. Despite the trains that ran over the Wisbech branch were all classified as Cl.9 there were in fact fully fitted & ran at 35mph. I think you'll find that was actually the GN & GE Joint... that was what kept Spalding going for many years. The M&GN ran east-west and closed as a through route in 1959, around the time my father went to Spalding No. 1 (and I started learning to walk on the frame there). Log in to reply |

I bow to your correction Keith, it seems such a long time ago these days. However no doubt you'll agree it was a better railway then than today. Can't say that any of the ex BR personnel I know prefer the railway today than in BR days. The only thing I'd say that is better today than in BR days are the salaries paid & most certainly to the drivers on the railway today compated to that of BR days incl. the extras you got in BR days such as DOO, mileage & eletric payments. More photos to follow shortly.

One thing I forgot to post was what the photos of Wimbledon Park CSD are of:- 1. This picture of units was at the depot entrance. Unit 5915 is a Cl.455 4 car unit & unit 7355 is a Cl.421/2 4-CIG. The unit next to the 4-CIG is another Cl.455 unit. 2 & 3. This picture was taken at the west side of the maintenance shed. The unit with the diagonal stripes on the front was apparently the Wimbledon Park CSD shunt loco. We were told it was in departmental use & only ran around the depot dragging & shunting vehicles & units as required. The next photo is a close up of this unit. 4. This shows 3 Cl.455 units in the main shed. 5. Unit 001 was a former 2-HAL unit & is now part of the Departmental EMU fleet now as a Cl.930 2 car De-Icing unit. 6. This is the east side of Wimbledon Park CSD with the main lines that run between Wimbledon & London Waterloo on the far right hand side. 7. A myriad of slam door stock on the tracks on the western side of the main depot building. Log in to reply |

37308 in Trainload Coal livery turned up from Toton TMD when the event was over much to the disgust of the organisers as they had requested a Cl.37 to attend, but were told none were available for that weekend. The loco is moving onto the holding sdgs at Bedford to collect some of the exhibits. Note the Cl.309 'Clacton' unit in the carraige sdgs. 55015 'Tulyar' starts its engines in Bedford Yard prior to moving under its own power onto the river bridge over the Great Ouse river for a photo shoot woth D9000 'Royal Scots Grey'. Steam loco 80080 under its own steam in Bedford holding sdgs. Derby RTC's Cl.24 97201 in Bedford Yard prior to the event opening. Derby RTC's Cl.31 97204 stabled in Bedford yard prior to the event opening. Derby RTC's Cl.46 97403 'Ixion' also in Bedford Yard prior to the event opening. D9000 'Royal Scots Grey' in Bedford Yard. This loco & 55015 went under there own power shortly after these pictures were taken for a photo shoot on the Ouse river bridge. These photos were taken on the Friday evening before the event opened on the Saturday. IIRC Geoff told me he had gone to this event, so may bring back some mmemories for you Geoff. When I was working at Bescot my office was behind where the steps & footbridge can be seen in the backfround on the left hand side of the picture. A myriad of locos stabled on the loco holding sdgs. These photos show the old loco holding sdgs at Bescot taken during the summer of 1988. Today all these tracks have been lifted & the Virtual Quarry(VQ) now covers this area with only 2 tracks.
