Staines DGL to P2 16/02/2015 at 21:18 #69256

I'm enjoying playing my first try at Feltham. I've encountered a slightly odd situation I'm unsure about: 2C05 is standing at P2 at Staines. I have set a route for 7Y44 from F469 on the DGL to F255. I was not expecting the signal to clear with the platform occupied but 7Y44 has proceeded. Have I made an operational error by setting this route, or is it a minor bug?

This is presumably so that trains can join on platform 2, so I would guess it's not a bug. Shunt signals (which F469 is) mean that the line ahead may be occupied even though the signal is clear (even though there is often interlocking to ensure this actually isn't the case).

Thanks. I would probably have worked out that there was permissive working were a route not simultaneously set from F255. I didn't make very clear in my original post that the route for 2C05 was already set.

Looks like it's lacking Huddersfield control.

Which is not nearly as common as people seem to think.

That sounds like the answer to the question- thanks.

Oh, I see, I assumed the route from the platform had been set afterwards. Apologies.

Not a problem, Muzer. My fault for the lack of clarity.

Actually this is not permissive working merely a shunt route from the down loop to the platform, a good signalman would remember not to overset this route as per the rule book! A comment was made up thread about attaching moves, as the loop is not electrified it is unlikely to be made, the last move to regularly use the loop as a booked move was a class 33 and an "Exeter" set running from Waterloo to Waterloo via Staines and Weybridge during the end of the morning peak, a now distant memory now.
