I haven't been able to identify the through line. Can someone advise, please? Log in to reply |

From my experience of routing trains through the station, it's any line that comes out the other side!

Would it be correct to assume that freight crew changes at Derby occur on the goods lines then? Though in Noel's timetable some are booked to pause in loops either side of the station - for regulation? TIA. In Zone 6, no one can hear you scream... Log in to reply |

" said:Would it be correct to assume that freight crew changes at Derby occur on the goods lines then? Though in Noel's timetable some are booked to pause in loops either side of the station - for regulation?TIA.While many freight trains did get relieved at DY458 (Dn Goods), DY449 (Up Goods) and also DY436 signal Up Goods (West) under London Road bridge, especially if the relieving crews were going to or from 4 Shed, there was also a traincrew mess room towards the north end of Platform 1 by the former Station Managers/TOPS Office/Guards Booking-On Point (I'm not sure if this mess room still in use) so freight trains frequently got relieved in the station platforms as well. The 'Through Line(s) referred to in the timings are the Down and Up Goods lines around the back of the station. And if anyone is unsure where Derby Station Carr Sdgs are, they are the two sidings between Platform 6 and the Down Goods Line. These carriage sdgs were and are still locally referred to simply as the 'Station Yard'. Regards, Phil. Last edited: 28/03/2015 at 17:12 by Phil-jmw Log in to reply |
