I'm finding that up southern trains are overhanging the end of P1 at dorking, with the TC beyond the LOS board remaining illuminated while trains are stopped at the station.

That is correct, the track is the full length between the two sets of points, however, the shunt signal is at the end of the platform. It doesn't man the trains are overhanging the platform.
