I coould be wrong but I believe the headcodes of the LUL services are incorrect. Underground services, don't run with the letter in their headcodes. The letter is to allow it to operate on NR lines such as the Wembley Suburban lines. They run purely on a 3-digit number system to identify the train. I know from experience and from checking on CCF screens, that although they show as a 4-digit description with a letter in the 2nd position, on the actual Signalling screen, the letter is actually the 1st digit. I'm sure this must be the case for Wimbledon and probably Richmond (NLL). If I'm wrong I'll gladly stand corrected. Log in to reply |

Its the same at Richmond. WS is the only one that is different in this case.

The train describers at Richmond and Wimbledon do an automatic conversion of 3->4 and 4->3 character headcodes.

The Richmond descriptions for District trains are pure alpha numeric reporting numbers the only difference is that the alpha character is either O or I to enable the train running number to be shown in position 2 to 3 e.g. O02 or I02. The initial number remains as the class of train, though Wimbledon uses the same method for position 2 to 3, the initial number is used as a routing code in the same way that the alpha character at the Suburban is a routing code though displayed in position 1. The descriptions displayed at Suburban are converted for input to TRUST as a normal reporting number e.g. A213 becomes 2A13 and the use of class 5 for Bakerloo empties is incorrect as originally set out as the full list of alpha routing codes cover both loaded and empty workings, even Watford Junction is catered for in the original list.

They wanted that for us on Suburban but we didn't want it. Letter first is a clear indication of an LUL vs a LOROL service
