I noticed that several automatic signals are displayed by a symbol that looks like a controlled signal controlled by a different signal box, i.e., they lack the specific stem marker for automatic signals. Examples are the automatic signals between Kenton and South Kenton in both directions. Why is this?

Some signals don't have a "passable" plate (used to be called an "auto" plate) in real life, so they don't have one in the sim.

I thought this was mentioned in the manual.

Thanks, I just found it. Is it possible to have a real permissive mode in the simulation, so that drivers would pass 'passable' signals at danger without asking for authority?

Theoretically yes, and indeed some sims have automatic permissive working (Euston, Trent, Derby)

However, "passable" autos were on passable in the unlikely event the driver was unable to get in contact with the signaller.

On that basis it's unlikely it would be implemented for passable-plated autos.
