Funny, I was just thinking that the promised new releases will be released for Christmas! However: "they'll be ready when they're ready!" Log in to reply |

See http://www.SimSig.co.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=16&id=39582&Itemid=0&limitstart=0 Slough, Reading and Walsall are the unreleased sims from that list, although I recall some unexpected changes/problems being mentioned for at least one of the three. Log in to reply |

A loader drain would be great (I say that, but have never played drain), but on a serious note, given the number of releases that SimSig has had this year, is it really reasonable to expect new releases for Christmas. Out of interest, I wonder how many new sims have been released this year compared to what is typically released in previous years. This year does seem to have a higher number of releases. I recall a re-release of Carlisle is on the cards; upgraded to loader and with an updated 70s/80s TT from Pascal; probably the one I'm looking forward to most. However as usual, the dev's have a real life to fit it round so I'm just looking forward to it - whether it is next week or next November!

Obviously fully aware of the usual caveats, but if this was to emerge in time for the festive period I would be having a very Merry Christmas indeed! Pascal's also mentioned that he's found extra references for the yards and so forth around Carlisle that were previously unused in his TT so I imagine the revised version will be busier and more mind-melting than ever! In regards to the Carlisle sim - and particularly in light of the awful events that have overtaken the town in the run up to Xmas, how about an update (if possible) to be released ASAP as a "Paid" option with the proceeds going to a worthy cause to help the people of Carlisle who have been hit by the devastating floods at the most expensive time of the year? I'd be willing to cough up £20! Just a thought! Log in to reply |

As far as Carlisle 1979-1980 timetable goes I've been finished with it for some time now. I know Tom was going to look at one out-standing issue regarding a trip working that returns to Kingmoor during the afternoon, but according to the trip notice it leaves its train on the Goods Line at Caldew Jn & the loco crosses Caldew Jn before heading off into Dentonlme Yard to pick up traffic before returning to it train & then continuing its journey to Kingmoor Yard. The only thing left to do with regards the actual timetable is to add in the revised workings of the 3 station pilots over the 5 weekdays & thats in the hands of John(postal) to sort out when he gets the time to do it. But I'd most likely put money on it being re-released in the New Year. Fingers crossed the King's Cross 1985-1986 timetable I'm currently working on will have a higher chance of getting released by Xmas providing the test sessions don't throw up any serious anomalies to resolve.

I have been inundated with other things in my life making it very difficult to find any time for SimSig. The remaining work on the TT is rather complicated and fiddly which means I need to find time to put in some concentrated hours rather than doing a few minutes whenever I can find the time. I'll get stuck into it as soon as I get the chance. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

For example, features may have changed, or added requiring sim data to be amended to suit - Phone call implementation is one example that immediately comes to mind. However one of the biggest obstacles back in the day was custom code. Originally, the .exe sims could include custom functions to do things the SimSig core code either couldn't or didn't do at the time. With the advent of the Loader, this all went away and sims were built purely from data with no custom code. Any sim with custom code would need the custom routines completely reworking using the data framework now available in the sim. The amount of custom code varied from sim to sim so while some have little or no custom code and would be relatively easy to convert, others had a HUGE amount and it would take a significant undertaking to convert. Trent being a case in point here - so much custom code it's a mammoth task near impossible to convert, hence why I'm guessing we've not seen or heard from Kurt lately! Log in to reply |

Has Kurt resurfaced at all since the loader came out? As far as I'm aware, he got out the initial version of Trent, and not long after ran out of any time at all for Simsig.

I thought I was moving along nicely with a few tt's then for a few life situations to crop up and stall everything. We'll get them all done at some point, just gotta look after ourselves first.
