I have been using Simsig for a while now and got the Edinburgh simulation as I work there and it would give me a better understanding of the problems experienced by the signal centre staff. I have come across a problem that I am struggling to get around which involves 1B26 and the continuation workings. 1B26 arrived from Carstairs at 0715 and then forms 5B26 in platform 21. However the timetable shows 5B26 activities as DEF 0B26 which I think should actually be DER 0B26 as the timetable shows the loco routed West into Calton Tunnel before running through to the East End and reversing back to join 5B26. Is this correct or am I being a little bit stupid...not unusual for me. I thought that the answer was simple, modify the timetable, but when I save the changes they are not appearing in the timetable next time I run the simulation. Is this because I am not running the sim while in Administrator mode when I make the changes? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Log in to reply |

" said:I thought that the answer was simple, modify the timetable, but when I save the changes they are not appearing in the timetable next time I run the simulation. Is this because I am not running the sim while in Administrator mode when I make the changes? Can't solve your 1B26 problem, but I can help with the TT saving issue (although the explanation may not be absolutely correct in computer-speak). Once you open a sim using a TT from your hard disk, the Loader program reads the TT and incorporates it into the data it holds to run the sim (or in pre-Loader sims, the exe file did that). It does not refer back to the hard copy on your disk while you are running the sim or when you reload the saved game because the saved game has the TT which you last used to run the game. When you use F4 or the Menu Bar to go into the TT, make any modifications and save the TT, you have changed the copy on your hard disk. At that point the updated TT is saved on your hard disk, but is only in the active memory of the sim. Unless you save the game before you close down the sim, the active memory is lost so when you reload the sim, you are reloading a save from a time before the TT was edited. That means you see the unedited TT, even though your file copy of the TT has changed. What makes it even more confusing is that when you go into F4, the TT name is the same as your saved copy even though the data is different. So, if you want to carry forward an edit to the TT so that you can re-start with your new data, you must save the sim as well as saving the TT. Then, when you re-load the sim, the new data is available. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

Can't find at present the WIKI page that had a diagram showing the WTT workings.

If I remember the TT correctly, the train has arrived from Carstairs through Princes Street Gardens so the loco will be at the Calton Tunnel end of the train. It needs to detach from the front towards Calton Tunnel so that it can run round and reverse onto the West End of the train before departing ECS to Polmadie via Carstairs again. I think that means the TT as written shouldn't need any editing. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Last edited: 31/12/2015 at 21:21 by postal Log in to reply |

I said I may be stupid as I confused myself with directions, forgetting which side Carstairs is on. However this is in part due to the problem I was having. When 1B26 arrives I have 1B26 to the East and 5B26 to the West on Platform 21, checking the timetable (F2) shows 5B26 as detaching loco and 1B26 is no longer listed. If I wait until the loco has finished dividing I have to manually Cancel 1B26 and Interpose 0B26 at the East end (if I Cancel 1B26 before the loco has finished dividing then 0B26 appears at the West end of the platform and 5B26 at the East end). In the first situation the ARS does not set the route for 0B26 and there is no TRTS indication at the booked departure time. On manually setting the route into Calton Tunnel the 0B26 changes colour to the Non-ARS pink and checking the timetable (F2) I see the following "Ready to depart but 5B26 in front" i.e. trying to go West not East, hence my problem and my confusion. Thanks for your information so far and as has been said detaching at the front is correct and therefore does not require editing. However, the detaching does not seem to be happening correctly. Am I missing something somewhere? Log in to reply |

Which WTT isit you're running? There was an issue with the sleepers on the 2006 TT for which I had a solution, but seems to have disappeared from WIKI. The fix was to make 5B26 face down after detaching, so that both portions were facing down for the join,to guarantee the dropping off coaches was at the rear/left/up end. What version of the TT and simulation are you running? I've just tested it on the Payware version and the loco detaches correctly. Oops, meant payware rather than loader.
