I was reading the manual for Rugby Centre, and one of the controls given is: Quote: RN3345 (I take it that should read KR3345, but it's not important): Only shows a free green if the points on the approach (KR338) are reversedMy question is simply why that is? The crossovers from the Down Fast to platforms 1 and 2 are restricted to 40 mph, so for routes coming from the Down Main (110/EPS 125) there needs to be some sort of approach control, in this case from red. The crossovers at Hilmorton Junction on the other hand are restricted to 50 mph, so the speed for trains coming from Northampton is within the 10 mph maximum difference allowed for free greens. Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.
