Hiya Headshot119!

Sorry, I seem to be picking your poor sim apart! I have an interesting one for you this time: on a couple of occasions I have had a train approaching HJ54 with a route set onwards from HJ53 to HJ52. At the same time, I have also had a train sitting at HJ52 awaiting departure towards Rockcliffe Hall. It seems that if the timing is just about right, then as the train at HJ52 departs, the train approaching HJ54 receives an ACoA despite the signal remaining at ‘caution’ throughout.

Annoyingly, each time this has happened was just before I was about to save the sim, so you’d have to play through half-an-hour’s worth of simulation from any of the saves I could submit to you. Doubly annoyingly, I can’t seem to replicate the bug with a test timetable. It has, however, happened three times during the course of the sim, and it definitely hasn’t been caused by a TCF or a signal failure.

I wish I could be a little more helpful with being able to track it down. Maybe if someone else reads this and can replicate the circumstances whilst they’re playing it they might be able to give you more info.

Hwyl fawr!

Hi Gwasanaethau,

I don't know why this hasn't been picked up on before! I've had a quick look at the sim and run a few test trains and I can't quite pin down what's happening, or consistently reproduce why it happens.

I need to sort out a few things around the house before I can take another look, but I'll try and get back to you later today.

Tickets NWC-14, and NWC-15 apply.

Right...

NWC-14 ACOA at HJ54

I'd like to know how you manage to set up this peculiar scenarios :P. There was an issue with HJ54 where it was looking at the section signal first in some circumstances before deciding if it should show green or not, then it would check the state of the home signal. Very briefly when with a train stood at HJ52 at danger, then clearing the route HJ54 would clear green, then revert to Yellow.

I owe you a pint at the next meet for finding that one.

NWC-15 Distant Signals

After having a quick look at the sim data as part of NWC-14 I noticed I hadn't coded the distant signals the same way as I'd done on Shrewsbury, which made me wonder if that was the cause. It wasn't but I've had a check through all the other distant signals, and repeaters to check I'd made no mistakes like in NWC-14, I hadn't which is good I suppose!

When will the update come out?

At the moment in between developing some exciting new simulations. I've been working on some minor updates to North Wales Coast, North East Wales, and Shrewsbury.

North Wales Coast gets an emergency alarm to Chester PSB, the same as North East Wales, and Shrewsbury have. The Signal Group Replacement Switch for the Colwyn Bay area has been added in. Some minor changes to the back end code for the NSKT system to Blaenau have taken place, making it more modular and allowing me to easily reuse it in other simulations. Also some minor bug fixes such as this will feature.

Unfortunately May is my dissertation hand in, and my final university exam period. I wouldn't like to promise to release anything during that time. But I'll try my best to push the updates out in June.

Wow! Thank you for the update! I do seem to find them somehow…or do they find me? :yikes

Anyway, sounds like there’s lots of nice things in the pipeline. Looking forward to them!

All the very best with your dissertation and exams! Hope you get some awesome results! B)
