A while ago on Cscot we were working the absolute block area with bell codes. However we had to discontinue because people were complaining it was difficult to reach the host because of them (although it's my opinion that host's are usually difficult to reach no matter the circumstance). It might be helpful to extend the switchboard feature in the chat box to only address certain people so that 'PJ:4' doesn't necessarily need to go to everyone.

Alternatively there could be buttons that are hidden (and only display when you switch in) where they could cause a bell sound and scratch the direct address altogether--a man can dream can't he?
