This is an image of a Signal Group Replacement soft key on a Westcad system. It can also be used by keyboard commands. With Westcad unlike IECC, there are no physical buttons to use, everything is on screen or via keyboard commands.
Some westcads have switches.
Where? Not saying you're wrong, just curious.

EMCC
Dan, I think you're either confusing ESOC, ASOC, and SGRC, or taking Giantray's comment out of context. EMCC has SGRC on-screen like all other Westcads that I can remember.

A question for Geoff (or anyone else for that matter) here

A MSC workstation I sign has a ESOC for each interlocking it controls. I'm yet to use them in anger.

Once they are used, Is it "recoverable" (IE will the interlocking eventually come back to life without any manual intervention?)

The ones I know about (Leamington Spa, Park Junction, and Radyr) all require technician intervention to restore normal service.

There are three modes of reset on an SSI which is partly down to how long it's been dead for - and that also affects how long and how much intervention is required to bring it back into normal working. I don't recall what has to be done for each mode - I think the simplest case is re-stroking routes (the interlocking remembers they were set but the signal is held at danger), while the worst is waiting for it to release everything which takes time in a complex area with multiple interlockings (Leeds, Paddington, Victoria etc). Areas with axle counters may need "sweeping" of sections (not sure on that one - I try to avoid axle counter logic :yikes ).

Please forgive my ignorance, but I certainly am! I've figured out that SGRC is 'signal group' within an interocking, but please could you clarify the difference between ESOC and ASOC. Thanks!

I've added ESOC and ASOC to the glossary and checked SGRC was correct.

The one at Gatwick works well and takes ages to reset afterewards, best not get it confused with the silence alarms button when point gauging (not me I hasten to add, but I did get caught in the ensuing chaos that one of my colleagues caused).
