Is there any easy way of identifying platform conflicts in sim sig?

I'm struggling to use F8 effectively to rectify some platform issues as i get completely lost working out which services are conflicting.

I remember an old competitor of SimSig used to highlight platform conflicts in red. That was so handy.

Any tips for a newbie TT creator?

Thanks in advance

F8 probably isn't the best tool for it, oddly.

If you analyse timetable, SimSig generates at TT Analysis.txt - I think in the same folder the TT would save to by default, but it's been a while since I've done it.

At the top of the file are the various Error and Warning messages that are generated and displayed in-sim when you analyse timetable.

Below is a list of arrivals and departures from each "platform" of each timing point, in time order.

A scan through that should identify most conflicts.

I've found it easiest with F8 to do 1 platform at a time; just check down to see if one train arrives before the previous has departed, if so check for double parking and/or activities.
I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

If you are writing a non fictional timetable where there is a station with multiple platforms the best way to write a timetable is by using the actual station working book published by the local area managers office(BR days) or the TOC(modern era). I don't write timetables for sims without one or else you end up with many platform clashes & furthermore using the data from the ststaion working book makes the timetable much more prottyical. Without one you are making the process alot harder. You can find old copies of station working books on e-bay or at preserved railways etc etc.

I'd say that fixing the platforming can be a lot of the interest in doing a timetable. Glasgow Queen St was best !

As for sorting it out then yes use tt_analysis.txt
Here's an example:

Platform 4

06:33 --S 2N11 06:33 Glasgow QS - Dunblane [156] [156]
06:40 E-- 5K74 06:00 Corkerhill - Glasgow QS ECS [156] [156]
06:48 --B 2K74 06:48 Glasgow QS - Cumbernauld [156]
07:18 --B 2K76 07:18 Glasgow QS - Cumbernauld [156]
07:47 E-- 2K75 07:17 Cumbernauld - Glasgow QS [156]
08:02 E-- 2N64 06:48 Edinburgh - Glasgow QS [156]
08:18 --B 2K80 08:18 Glasgow QS - Cumbernauld [156]
08:33 --B 2N15 08:33 Glasgow QS - Dunblane [156]
08:44 E-- 2K79 08:14 Cumbernauld - Glasgow QS [156]
09:18 --B 2K84 09:18 Glasgow QS - Cumbernauld [156]

The activity codes are good as they highlight potential problems. So if you see two 'E--' in sequence iit s worth a look. In this case it is OK as double docking, but only if 2N64 becomes 2K80.

You can also use excel to create a docker.

Pop the time in minutes down the side and platforms across the top and then fill boxes with colours for each train to prevent clashes
