My statistics were showing I had a number trains using incorrect platforms.
At KX platforms can have added to platform number an F L or R (there is some discussion in another thread as to what they mean)

The timetable I was using (thanks officer dibble) has a number of trains platformed for the F or the R section. After a bit of trial and error, it appears that the F generates an incorrect platform.
I created a little timetable to test this and in the attached timetable 5R03 programmed into 10F will indicate an incorrect platform, the train list shows it to be in 10R (hence the error) A second train (5R11) into 10R will join correctly.
The same result occurs with either the modern or old layout. so there appears to be a problem with the F designator.

SimSig Loader version 4.6.3
Simulation Kings Cross data version 3.4

May be I have missed something in cross as I alway thought the the xF part of the platfrom was the platform section nearest the platform signal and the concourse end was xR.

thanks for the info
I re-ran my test reversing the platform designators, so that the first train went to 11R and the second to 11F.
It still produced an error on arrival of the second train.
So it appears that the buffer stops are indeed the R end, however the second train is detected as being at the R end as well, hence the platform error.

Appears easier, to just not to use the suffix.
