I've not seen these before but I've noticed in the last few months, these odd looking items attached to point bars.Mostly yellow in colour, although I've seen a few maroon ones.Does anyone know what function these objects serve ? I've seen yellow and Orange. Recently added to a X/o at Cupar after the had busted. (Took me 45 minutes over my day! I might add) oddly though, they were just added to the affected set of blades, in this instance the Up line. The Down line blades were left as normal. Also add that these are mechanical operated points in AB working. So they are not just being added to specific types of points. There also doesn't seem to be a pattern as to how many of these are fitted to each set of points. Some only have 2 facing each other, others I have seen have 3, 4 or even 5 on each side. Tubular Stretcher Bars, the coloured part being a "Motion Unit". The colour denotes the application the unit is designed for, and the number of bands on the bar itself is also significant. This video is informative and worth watching for more information. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RoZRoSIUZWo I have installed a few and they are good solid bits of equipment, and you will start to see a lot more as they are standard installation in a lot of circumstances as things are renewed.
