Hi! I noticed something kind of obscure and a little odd while playing KX. Consider a route from an entrance signal to an exit signal. Now consider a points failure on a diverging point that lies not within the route itself, but within the route’s overlap. The overlap is normally swingable. What I noticed is that, when the points are moved to the failed position, the entrance signal drops to red. This seems pretty reasonable: sure, normally you can move the points without the signal dropping, but if the train were to SPAD, it would lock the points in one or other legitimate position when it entered the overlap TC; with failed points, on the other hand, they could be stuck in an intermediate position and derail the train. What I found odd is that, when moving the points when working properly, it takes about four seconds for the points to prove in their new position; however, when moving the points when failed, it takes only a little over one second for the entrance signal to drop to red. How is this possible? Shouldn’t it actually take quite a bit longer than four seconds? Isn’t a points failure detected simply by driving the points motor for longer than the time it normally takes to move the points but not getting a position proof from the detection circuit, meaning it should take say five or six seconds before the points are deemed failed? This used to work so I'll log for future investigation. FWIW the time is 7 seconds in modern interlockings.
