Absolutely loving this sim. I love the fact that the goal is realism ahead of "playability" and really enjoying learning how things work. I've seen off two trains and really looking forward to getting to expert level and gravitating up to the more complicated locations.

Glad to hear you are having fun with the Royston simulation, and I hope you enjoy it and any future simulations as much as I have over the years. I f you need any help first port of call should be to check the forum pages for the particular simulation; there may well be some topics already on there that will help you. After that if you still need assistance create a thread in the particular forum and someone will be happy to help you.

Hi gp33xy

Welcome to the madhouse, I can heartily recommend Lancing for the next stage in the learning process. Although a very small sim, this will allow you to build up your level crossing prowess as there are numerous crossings standing in the way of all the trains.

Good luck and enjoy your time with us

Thanks.

One question I have: I thought I had paused and I hadnt and this led to a head on collision except the trains just passed through each other. Is there collision detection or should I instead voluntarily admit defeat at that point?

And thanks for the tip on the next one to try because most of them look a frightful leap from my current simplicity.

There is something badly amiss here because the SimSig core code should never allow you to get into a situation where a head on collision is possible, never mind the pass-through you describe. Do you have a saved game in the lead up to the event or can you help with Loader version number, Simulation version number, Timetable details and the circumstances allowing the event to happen. This is to try and find out how one of the basic principles behind SimSig has been violated, not to point the finger at the way that things have been operated.

I'd like to second this request as a matter of urgency, being both the author of Royston and the person who maintains the train movement core code.

Even just a basic description of "I had this train there going that way and the other train here going this way and they passed through each other" would help.

One thing that comes to mind: how do you know they passed through each other? If you're relying on the train describer, situations that bring trains face to face in unexpected places can confuse the describer. This is one reason that any detail you can provide will be useful.

You download everything (.SIM wise anyway) through the loader application. Press check for updates.

The majority of the sims are now downloaded via the SimSig loader, which you can get from here

Once installed you just need to run the updater (Check for updates) and you can install a number of sims.
