While playing Glocester and using the Race Day timetable i had the weed killing train stop at one of its stop points and then phone to say it would be late leaving as the driver needed a toilet break! Has anybody else had this happen to them? And does it happen in any other sim?

Yes, it is one of the more amusing messages (along with 'wrong sort of food trolley')! When running the Drain, ages ago, I had a driver disappear for a twelve minute toilet break - canteen food, no doubt. I edited the timetable to order him to put a cork in it and carry on regardless! I had a delay due to "wrong kind of food trolley" on an LU train stopped at Gunnersbury on NLL! Slap bang in the middle of the morning rush! Don't know how they managed to wheel it through the crowds! Log in to reply |

Recently had a light engine delayed at the ECML Spur at Hornsey due to "Assistance being given to a passenger."

I had "Passenger Disturbances" on the sleeper at Waverley once - obviously not everyone stays in bed!

I recall an ECS working on KingsX reversing at REV SDG (Harringay) reporting a delayed departure due to Wrong Kind of Food Trolley. The amount of jokes about that keep on coming as it happens on the simulation. I reckon it's a really fussy driver who can't find his favourite sandwich and so kicked up such a fuss that he refuses to leave until a new trolley with said sandwich is loaded onto his train. What makes me laugh even more is when it's any of the "commuter trains" (Class 313s, 317s, 321s or 365s) on KingsX which don't even have food trolleys on board in the first place. Please can we keep this thread going with our various experiences  Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. The most amusing I've had is "Assistance being given to a passenger" at Ferme Park CWM - assistance with what, I wonder? The most frustrating is a 20-minute (!) toilet break by a Rotherham train at Meadowhall platform 1, with three expresses backed up behind him... Log in to reply |

The various messages for a delayed train are random (some more than others) so treat them with the light heartedness they were intended to be. I had one at Harrow and Weldstone on the new Wemberly sim, with a LU operator complaining of needing a toilet break, and the wrong kind of food trolley being loaded on at Northam Depot on a Southampton sim

I was coming back from Exeter St. Davids a few years ago now and we arrived so late back into Paddington that I only just got to the Circle line platform in-time for the last clockwise service of the night from there. At Baker Street there was a member of station staff waiting on the platform, in position at the front of the train and the driver dived out of the cab to use the facilities quickly, leaving the member of station staff 'guarding' the open cab door. About Northam Depot, a contact said the following; "Yeah, its the central TMD for SWT's Class 444/450 fleets", so I could easily believe that a train could leave there with the wrong kind of food trolley. Anyway, please do keep these coming in, the laughs are endless from me. Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. We had a trail of posts in the old forum about these, including some imaginary ones, some of which were truly hilarious. An actual one I had a couple of years or so ago was a passenger disturbance on a staff train! I also recall someone else mentioning that a light engine movement stopped at WGC to let an express through only to be delayed due to wrong type of food trolley. Log in to reply |
