I've been creating a WTT for Sheffield based on the early 1990's, in the Trainload Freight era. It is now 80-90% complete & should be ready for testing by the end of next week, after some excellent assistance from NoisyNoel. If anyone is interested in testing this WTT prior to its general release, either e-mail me direct (pascalnadin@yahoo.co.uk) or respond to this post with your e-mail address & I will e-mail you the WTT. WTT will be e-mailed out next Saturday morning or earlier if completed by then. Be warned careful regulation of North bound freight services via the 'OLD ROAD' towards Masborough is essential. Please read notes on WTT. All the Tinsley Depot Trip Workings which are not covered in any WTT's based on 1991 are included. Log in to reply |

Guys, Please be patient in waiting for a reply as Pascal (58050) only has access to the internet via hislocal library which is only open for limited hours.. It's quite a good TT as there is a fair amount of freight about to deal with.. Noisynoel Log in to reply |

have e-mailed Sheffield 1991-1994 WTT to the 6 people who volunteered to test this WTT. If anyone else wishes to test it, I'll be accessing the internet again on Thursday, so I can e-mail you then, unless one of the 'testers' is prepared to e-mail you a copy of it. Good luck to everyone, hope you enjoy it.

Pascal - A couple of typos on the new version 5B55 says Plat 5A but goes to Plat 6 for 1B55. 0M23 says "Oeak Forest" as destination. Log in to reply |

Hi 58050 just downloaded the 1991-94 TT just wondering what period it runs in,modern or 1980's, not sure when Sheffield was modernised. Cheers Cliff cliff cook Log in to reply |

I assumed 'Modern' as trains stop at Swinton, which doesn't exist in '1980s' era.

At the moment, as Andy says, it runs in the modern era, although if my memory serves me right (Which occasionally does happen), Pascal is doing a version to run in 1980's mode.

Hello Chaps, this version of Sheffield 1991-1994 runs on the modern era scenario. There are about a dozen more trains to be added then it will be complete. The delay at the moment is that my PC is in for repairs & I won't have it back for about 10 days. So in the meantime please continue with this one. Once my PC has returned I will finish this WTT off & re-release it (still running on modern day scenario). Once this has been done I intend to re-write a WTT for the 1980's era scenario. Probably 1984/1985. Some of the Tinsley Depot trip workings in this version have been slightly altered to fit in with the 'modern day' scenario track plan, (T.04 being one of them). When the time comes to re-write this WTT or do a new one for the 1980's scenario I will put it to the vote to those who enjoy playing Sheffield. Living 2 miles from Clay Cross, this is my local 'sim'. In the meantime I will be happy to answer any questions people have about this WTT, but at present I have to use the local library computers to access the internet & they are available on Monday afternoons, all day Thursday & Friday & Saturday mornings. Hope all of you that try this WTT enjoy it. Kind Regards, Pascal (58050) Log in to reply |

Great TT Pascal a 1980's one would be great as well. Even in the early morning this TT keeps you busy, didn't realise that you had more to do to it, look forward to the final release. Keep up the good work:D Cliff cliff cook Log in to reply |

My Sheffield 1986 timetable is 90% finished - but, as always, it is the last 10% of the work that takes up most of the time.

Forest Pines, interesting you made a WTT for Sheffield based on 1986, as my next attempt will be a Sheffield WTT based 1984/1985. When I get mt PC back from repairs, would you e-mail me a copy of your WTT & I can see if it is similar to the one I am doing, if you are happy to do so. We might be able to share info on this. I will also be doing a 1987/1988 WTT for Trent also. It is a question of which one to do first. I'll leave that decision to the users that enjoy playing ,y early 1990's Sheffield WTT. I am also going to do a 1988/1989 Gloucester WTT also. This Sheffield WTT is my first one & I am getting into doing 1980's - 1990's WTT's as I find them slightly more interesting than the more up to date ones. Log in to reply |

Can any of the users playing this Sheffield 1991-1994 WTT please let me know what the issues are for platforming. I know some of the testers ,emtioned a few platform issues to sort out. If I can compile a list so I can alter them when I put in the last dozen or so trains then this WTT can be finalised. Many thanks.

I'd imagine my timetable is fairly similar to yours if yours is taken from the appropriate period documentation. I've taken my data from the relevant WTTs for the most part; the diagrams and loco changes for hauled passenger services are taken from info supplied by Peter Bennet, helpful chap that he is. The DMU diagramming is largely made-up by me, based on guesses as to which services would use Lincoln-based units and which wouldn't; but some useful info on that came from the old Simsig forum. The largest gap is probably that I've limited freight services to those with timetabled paths; I don't have any documentation on additional workings, and didn't think it appropriate to add any in without suitable information on realistic traffic flows. There are a few changes caused by the sim layout: in particular, as the Darnall East Curve is missing, there are a few moves which require reversal at Woodburn and a pilot engine from there to Tinsley. I have resisted the temptation to claim that these pilots are a mysteriously-survived Class 13 ;) In some ways the '86 table is easier than the 2007 one: services then were much less frequent, and you don't have to worry about the Holmes chord at all - one fewer level crossing to handle there, for one thing. In other ways it's a lot harder: you can't infer train routing from headcodes at all, and there are plenty of loco changes and shunt moves to fit in at Sheffield. There's some interesting other stuff in there too: the Manchester-Grimsby newspaper train and its return working, for example; some DMU tail-haulage; and Class 150 acceptance workings in spare Sheffield-Chesterfield paths. Like the 2007 timetable it's a fun one-person simulation; but fun in a slightly different style. I'm not happy sending it out for testing until I've tested the whole thing is releaseable and there are no obvious errors (had to redo a big chunk of platforming in my last test session because of a conflict at S81), but I can put up my working-data spreadsheet if anyone's interested. It lists all the passenger timings, an overview of the freight services, and Sheffield platform occupation info. Log in to reply |

Just a couple of items in the 1991-94 TT that i've found. 8T95-A needs to join 0T95-A then new 8T95-B at the moment it joins 8T95-B, the same for 8T61-A, both of these occur at Westhorpe RR. 1L92 could platform in P5 at Sheffield instead of P7 as it gets delayed waiting for 1M09 to depart. Let you know if i find anymore. cliff cook Log in to reply |
