Hi Firstly I am new to Simsig and have been told to play Royston to get used to how it all works. Sorry in advance if this subject has already been mentioned. I have an issue with the telephone for the level crossing. When it rings I have to wait till any trains go past before I answer it. There seems to be only one option - Safe To Cross. Would it be possible to add another option like - Ring Back In 5 Minutes or Cross After Next Train. Dave Log in to reply |

Steam Buff You should be able to answer the telephone at any time in play. If you click on the flashing telephone icon you get a list of unanswered calls and can click on the one with which you want to deal. Alternatively, if you just press key A rather than clicking on the icon, the first call in the list is answered. I suspect that Royston just doesn't have this feature provided with it, unlike many of the other simulations. Remember you do have the Emergency Replacements either side of the crossing so if it is safe for you to do so (i.e: the train will not receive an Adverse Change Of Aspect ("ACOA")) then you can of course make the decision to allow the crossing user to proceed and hope they do so before the train arrives at the red signal protecting the crossing. Although that said I don't think there is a penalty for leaving the crossing user waiting on the phone, yet your score can be affected by delaying a train, so it's a question of your preference really. Perhaps there may be a future update to this soon. In-fact saying that I only joined this website back in November 2009 and I have already noticed at least one update to Royston since I first played it...but that could just be a coincidence of some sorts. Dave, it looks like you've got an old version from somewhere. I just downloaded the version on this site (v2.201) and it definitely offers the "call back in 5 minutes" option.
