I am thinking of installing Windows 7. Has anyone tried it yet, and will Simsig work OK? I use Vista at present, and have no problems with Simsig.

No, for the simulations still using the older codes, the right-facing triangles still don't show. I guess we have to wait for the older sims to be rebuilt. Log in to reply |

The only problem I'm getting in Windows 7 is that the pop-up train info and F4 (timetable menu) don't show the bottom and right hand side of the box, so no add trains, ok or cancel buttons!

Whilst this loophole is a pretty poor show for an operating system that has been touted as "secure", this flaw is perhaps not as serious as some that have been found in say WinXP. Basically all you need to do until M$ issue a patch is to close TCP ports 139 & 445 on your router or firewall. P.S. this weakness is only present in Windows 7 & certain "Server Core" installations of 64-bit/Itanium versions of Windows 2008 Server: Windows Vista/XP/2000/Server 2003 and 32-bit version of Server 2008 are not affected. Matt - I have no problem with that here - maybe to do with font sizes? Outofsection - Nothing is 100% secure. XP has regular zero-day exploits too. I would advise anyone running windows or SMB networking on Linux to keep 139 and 445 closed on their router. Log in to reply |
