I've got a TCF at South Holloway blocking access from the Up Slow to the Up Fast and so only Platforms 1 to 9 are currently available, I've collared the controlling signals on the Up Fast from Platform 2 at FInsbury Park (K382) up to (K320) just before the TCF.

Now the last place I had a TCF was at Welwyn Garden CIty on the Down Slow between (K617) and (K182) which wasn't a problem to me although it took a hour which is reasonable.

Now if you have to block any lines by collaring the signals, what do you guys use?

I use BLOK, BTET or -T3- now BTET is blocked to electric traction but can it be used for diesels or does BLOK have to be used instead? Also, what are the differences between -T2-, -T3-, -T12-s etc....

This was all discussed a week ago, actually! It's over in "The Real Thing":

Anything you interpose into the TD berths can only be an informal reminder of what's going on, so you can put whatever you want - the protection is given by collaring the signal, an S&T disconnection, placing the block indicator to TOL etc. If you're only collaring a signal to avoid setting a route over a TCF, then that wouldn't fall under any of the protection or possession regs - in simple terms, T2 is protection for work that could make the line unsafe (but can't involve trains), T3 is full possession of the line, T12 is protection of staff (so track inspections or access to a particular location, for example, where that can't be done under traffic), the title for each coming from the relevant rulebook module.
