First of all, apologies if this has been covered before or this feature already exists, but when playing with well populated Sims and things get a bit hectic, it is easy to miss the visual alert in the message box that another train has entered your area. As the message box scrolls as each new message appears it can get 'lost' and the first thing that you know about a new train is when the driver reports that he is standing at red signal so and so. Now I'm not familiar with the intricacies of computer programming, but is it feasible (if it doesn't already exist!) to have some kind of audible alert, say a two bell signal similar to the old 'Train Entering Section' bell? Not at my machine at the moment. However, within the options under F3 you can associate sounds with most of the messages that are displayed, change the colour messages and even get them to appear as a pop up. Mind you I think getting popup messages for trains entering would be a bit annoying if a number of trains enter together, as each one would need acknowledgment in turn! Andy Log in to reply |

On the taskbar, go to "Show" then on the drop - down "Options" then "Messages". You will see a scroll down window marked "Event" and another showing "Play Sound" Select the event e.g. "Train Entering System" then search your computer for a suitable sound using the "Sound" search window. You can have pop - ups if you like, but as Andy says they can be a bit frustrating, so clear the pop - up check box. Hope this helps. Neil Log in to reply |

You could also take a look at this as there are a range of sound effects there which you can download and attach to various messages by following andyb0607's advice. I've used the IECC 'Beep' for wrong-route messages and a few other messages, phone sound effect for...errr....telephone messages, Slot Ping for slot messages and the whistle sound effect for Train Entering messages (although I'm possibly soon to change this). For the TRTS sound effects, I've used one (whichever is the higher pitched one) for the actual TRTS message and the other (a lower pitch) I've used for failure messages. Might have to see if I can use the TRTS 2 Buzzes sound effect for something else. Thanks, UKTrainMan...I wasn't aware you could have multi sound effects! I tried to find a suitable double bell sound on the internet like the old I think) Tyer bell, but ended up with a doorbell!! Still, it alerts me to new trains and I'm finding the sim runs more smoothly. Regards FP Log in to reply |

To add to Peter's AB bell sound, I've submitted for upload some additional bell sounds.
