Perhaps it's just me, has anyone noticed that Euston bound trains seem to be losing 3 or 4 minutes by the time they reach Stonebridge?

It's not just you, J, most trains seem to be losing time in both directions.

By 06.10 (and with trains running under clear signals) the sim reckoned that I'd lost 116 minutes! ::

There are two possibiities here. One is that SimSig's emulation of train characteristics isn't quite good enough and it shows up most on a tight timetable like this. The other is that the working timetable isn't achievable in real life.

The people in the box assure me it's the latter.

Glad it isn't just me, though I have noticed in some cases trains seem to be lolly-gagging. K225 was sent into the turnback sidings on time, scheduled to leave at 20. At 21 1/2 I checked F2 (having cleared the signal minutes in advance to find "stopped at XXX". This general pattern repeats itself where occasionally a train will just not carry on randomly for 2 minutes in the siding. I understand random delay is simulated, but it seems to occur somewhat frequently.

Jsun: I haven't observed that, but then again I haven't been looking for it. What would be useful is a saved game as soon as possible before it goes into the sidings (since the more that's going on, the more chance that random things will happen differently) and confirmation that you still get the behaviour with the saved game. I can then dig into the internals and see why it's doing it.

The working timetable does not seem to match the public timetable. For example 2C16 leaves Watford Jn at 1002 and leaves South Hampstead at 1035.5 (33.5 mins). In the public timetable it leaves Watford Jn at 1001 and South Hampstead at 1041 (40 mins). This seems to be the reason for most of the late running. I know the working timetable in the sim is from Aug 2006 but I'd be suprised if running times have changed that much since then.

Surprised to see this out, got the word of mouth, stopped what I was doing on MSTS to play this! Well done SimSig team, must donate more too!

As for the characteristics, I noticed tube trains were loosing time. Looked in F2 to see one roll into Willesden LL 7mph......6...........5.......4............3......2..........1......stopped etc. Of course in reality this should be 7mph.654321 stopped!

I then when to F4 to check the train characteristics and tube stock are set to high, rather than very high, and 313s are set to high too...which in effect means the 1972 stock has the same characteristics as a 313! I don't think there's nothing wrong with the times, just they are slowing down slower than they should. A simple fix would just to set the LU stock to 'very high'

Even with acc/braking on very high, I have had problems with trains losing time too. I have tested a train using the times given in a Bakerloo WTT sent to me (Stonebridge Pk. Depot - Stonebridge - Harrow - Queen's Park), but every time it always ends up 3 or 4 minutes late by the time it reaches Harrow, and takes its time reversing in the platform too, ending up about 7 minutes late by the time it reaches Queen's Park. This is under clear conditions, greens all the way with no trains / delays / TCFs / TSRs etc.

I certainly had to use 'very High' to get the 313's on North London to run to time, as well as knock the station stops down to half minute.

ISTR seeing something in a suburban area WTT or some associated document (a very long time ago now) specifying that station stops were timed at 30 seconds for diesel trains and 20sec for electrics! (Mind you, that was in the days when slam doors were the norm, with only 306s and 313s having sliding doors in the London area.)

I agree this does seem to be happening. It is almost as if the train is waiting for the arrival time at Harrow and Wealdstone before departing the siding. I have a saved game to mail to you clive if you still need it.
