woops, ive cleared the wrong signal at a station and pulled off for a train that doesnt leave for two hours. so ive got two choices. ACOA it and recieve a penalty and a phone call in 2 hours from the driver, with him calling control, or leave the signal cleared for two hours

the rulebook/real life approach is to call the driver directly via in cab phone, or the platform staff, and come to a clear understanding that the signal will be replaced and no train will try and pass it

is it possible to add this as an option, either via the phone menu, calling station staff for instance, or as an f11 option? adds a touch of realism and practicality

As a slightly cheaty workaround, on sims which allow actions while paused... you can press pause, reverse the train and then cancel the route while the driver's looking the other way (as it were). You still get the 120-second timeout, but no penalty. As soon as you unpause, the driver realises he's at the station and facing the wrong way, and turns back to be "Stopped at X" and looking at a red signal.

It's obviously 'cheating' but in a roundabout way achieving the same effect as what you're asking for. Ideally though, I think phone calls to platforms would make it much more elegant!

That's a useful trick, thanks.
I am always confusing Bristol Temple Meads platforms 13 and 15 and clearing the wrong one. I now stick a post-it over the one that needs setting last in the hope I don't do it again.
