Hi. It was my first attempt at joining a multiplayer session of the Gloucester Sim last night (18th Nov 2010) I was successful in joining but unfortunately was unable to participate in the session due to numerous Message pop-up boxes obliterating the screen. Everytime the Host or Client(s) typed something I got the scrolling messages in the 'Messages - Gloucester' window OK but also got individual 'windows type message boxes' for each message as well. So a thread of say forty typed messages resulted in forty individual message boxes, one for each typed message. These message boxes needed to have the 'OK' button pressed to get rid of them, which to be quite honest I could not catch up with. I might add that these message boxes wiped out the track layout which made it impossible to view. This also happens on a single player session as well, i.e each time I respond to a telehone message. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to turn off these message boxes? I have the Gloucester Sim loaded on a Window7 64 bit PC. Regards Tim Log in to reply |

Hit F3 to bring up the options popup box, then select the Messages Tab. You then need to check the different events in the pull-down box and for each one see if the "Popup Message Box" checkbox is ticked. Most likely you have the popup selected for "General Simulation Message" among others. By the way, you can also do a search on "popup box" right at the top of any page on the site and it will show you the relevant pages in the wiki which is probably where you should have started looking first. Thanks for the advice. I can confirm that the 'General Simulation Message' was not ticked. I did use the search facility but could not find anything appertaining to the particular problem that I am encountering, hence my post. Regards Tim Log in to reply |

Try selecting the 'General Telephone Message' option in the drop down box menu thingy and untick the 'Popup Message Box' from that option and that should resolve your problem. Whilst we're on the subject of this, Wembley Suburban simulation has the message event 'Multiplayer Message' - which as the name suggests allows you to have a sound effect for multiplayer messages and also a popup message box if you so wish. Hopefully further simulations will have this too. Hope this helps.
