Hi everyone,

Thought I'd come and introduce myself on the forum. New to SimSig and train dispatch sims in general. Had some fun with train sims in the past but I prefer being a dispatcher. Liking the software so far, running the Cambridge line at the moment. Hopefully will get chance to join you all in some multiplayer sessions and learn lots, be gentle when I make lots of newbie errors.

Don't worry we all made some errors when we started, whether it was in the job training (some around here are real signalers) or when one first played with Simsig. The person who claims otherwise is either lying or not human.

At least with SimSig it can be easier to solve certain problems, like there is at least a way to take a train of the tracks if you accidentally had them both routed towards each other on a single track with a train behind each so nowhere to go. In real life, this requires several hours and a crane. (I unfortunately had ARS route trains into this situation once.)

And mistake 2, technically it's signaler not dispatcher.

Hi there, welcome to super Simsig. I enjoy Cambridge and Peterborough, also Stafford. It helps if you know an area I reckon. Don't worry about asking what you think are silly questions. I've asked more than my fair share but there's some excellent help on here which has got me to the level of operating which I now enjoy.

Unless you happen to be a grumpy old dinosaur like me... I'm a signalman!

Oh, and welcome Styphon, whatever you call yourself.

In late BR days we had "signal(wo)men", usually pronounced with the "wo" like this: sig-nul-WOE-man :)

Dispatcher in one sense is the American name for a signaller. However, in the UK, it is a separate role at certain stations including all Network Rail major stations, Gloucester, Hereford, Nuneaton and Leicester (to my knowledge). That is obviously not an exhaustive list.

Oh, and welcome to SimSig, Tony/Styphon
