Hi Folks.

I have been working on my TT to add a few more bits and pieces and tidy a few things up that were left a mess in the first release version and have FINALLY remembered to report a few really annoying bugs i've found in the scrolly version.

1) I'm not 100% sure on this actually being a bug, but i don't ever remember seeing anything like it on the real life route, so here goes. Just west of Woodborough traveling toward Westbury, line speed drops to 60 mph for passenger traffic, and 40 for freight somewhere in the region of sig DW81. Is this accurate? Or is it actually a bug? As in the other direction, line speed remains at 100 mph.

2) Signaling a train out of Westbury Cement Works towards Westbury or Hawkeridge junction results in the TT not stepping up and acknowledging that Heywood Road Jn has been passed. You need to manually open F2, edit TT and reset the location to either Westbury or Hawkeridge Jn.

3) Sig R484 (Shunt sig for Newbury Racecourse Up Sdg) doesn't always clear when it's supposed to regardless of whether you're shunting into the Up siding, or over to the Racecourse loop platform. Seems a bit hit and miss as to whether it responds or not.

Hope that all makes sense!

There were a couple of others i found as well while i was making the original version, but at the moment can not for the life of me remember what they were!! If i come across them while testing this version ill pop another post here.

Kindest regards,

Simon.

1 I'll need to check.

2 Fixed now

3 I take it you are routing to the siding in which case it's set to be approach released- other routes don't but that does not seem right so amended to no Approach release.

Thanks

Ok Peter, thanks.

Found another one of them, i am unable to route a train from Westbury's platform 1 into the Down Trowbridge siding. I'm sure that's possible on the real PSB as i vaguely remember seeing one of the guys there (Ian i think...) route a unit from P1 into that siding when we where there on a visit last year.

I've just been going through the timetable ticking some of the 'Runs as required or as a special' boxes, and setting percentages. It turns out that if i do more than 1 at a time without saving, SOME services have that box UNTICKED and it seems there is no exact order of why or which ones will be unticked when i next check. It's quite frustrating.

The TT's now reached 346 rules and 727 trains, and probably 200 odd of them are freights, most of which i want ticked and percentages added for random entries every time i run the game to hopefully give a much more varied feel. But this is proving difficult because of the sim, seemingly, unticking the boxes i've already ticked! :O I know i've not untcked them myself, and in some cases i've even been double or triple checking them to make sure, but two or three saves/reloads later i'd say probably about 1 out of every 5 are unticked again.

Have i reached some sort of limit? Has anyone else ever had this problem? What am i doing wrong - if anything? ::

Further to the above, i've just been running some more tests to try and get to the bottom of it. It seems however, that when one of the 'ticked' services enter the area it's box is automatically being unticked, which is something i haven't noticed before.

This then means - once i make a change to one of my other services and test it's new timings or whatever, if a 'ticked' service comes in, and i save once i'm happy with the service i've been testing, the TT then saves the 'ticked' service unticked.

So i'm going to assume that this is normal, slap my self on the wrist and sort the TT issues out first, and sort out the ticky boxes last.

If all else fails you can check via a txt version and see if the relevant flags are correctly set, which might be easier than checking through each train individually.

Also can't see any particular problem with routing trains from P1 to the siding, which either means its since been fixed or I've misunderstood the problem- is it that you can't set the route or there is some difficulty in getting a train to proceed?

The problem is i can not set a route from P1 into Dn Trow. Sdg. I get told "No route between selected signals". If you aren't having any difficulty then you've already fixed it.

From Signal 798 to Signal 102? Works fine for me. You sure you're clicking the right signals?

Opposite direction. I have no problem with the direction you've given.

Sig 411 onward to the Down Siding is where i can't signal from/to.

Peter, has the location for the East Somerset Railway been added? All signals are in place to access the line but with no location for it you have to tell everything to PSAD to get in there.

Hmm. This isn't ideal behaviour. I'll look into it when I get time. Another reason for using the text format to develop timetables :-)

At the time the simulation was released, a PSR speed limit of 40/60 existed 83mi 40ch to 83mi 55ch on the Down line only. There were also a couple of other restrictions not mirrored on the other line. I note that the latest Sectional Appendix no longer has these so the restrictions must have since been lifted at some point.

Suspect this may have been changed during the transfer from Reading to Thames Valley SC. One of the routes I used to work over had a 30 mph on the up line only, which I had been told that there was a temporary speed imposed back in the dark ages and the person who imposed the speed never took it off. Nobody else was willing to declare the line fit for 55 mph line speed so it stayed. A couple of years back they resignalled the route and the line speed was then raised back to the original speed of 55 mph, so it can happen.

Does appear to be a missing location in the Sim but I can't see why it would be necessary to PSAD unless there is also a route setting bug. Maybe you mean abandon timetable as it will, most likely, stick at the final timetable location.

Hi There,
I don't think this has been reported before, if it has apologies.
I had the overlap track for 160 signal fail. I authorised the next train to pass the signal and exmine the line. The train proceeded as far as E 170 signal and stopped but did not phone in, it just stuck there for about 15 minutes. To get things moving I had to erase the train. Has anyone else experienced this

Just tested and seems OK though that's on a new build in terms of calling in.

There is one thing though- SE170 is not a Westbury signal- so I guess we have to assume the call has come from Exeter box- probably too difficult to sort that out but I'll raise a ticket.

Signal 195 at Frome in the sim only hs 3 aspects.

After having been to Frome today on my mountain bike with James, we both noticed that this signal is actually FOUR aspect. It was also like that about this time last year when me and a mate popped into the Focus(?) DIY shop outside the station.

Taking a 'stab in the candle-lit dark' here but is there a chance that this signal was three aspect when the data for the simulation was provided during the development process? Just a thought.

Am wondering that myself- having just looked at the Sim to have 195 4Aspect would seem odd given that the preceding and succeeding signals are 3A (in Sim). Was the area resignalled or have they used a 4A head but blanked out the second Y?

To the best of my knowledge none of that area has been resignalled since i moved here. I've been here 2 and a half years. The signal head is well worn, that is to say it doesn't look any newer than the others. Cab ride videos also come in handy. Just checked on a Westbury - Weymouth Cab ride DVD by 225 Studios shot in Wessex Trains days, and although it's going in the opposite direction, it's clear from that, that the signal head is elongated and not of 3A type. Unfortunately i can't be so positive about the other signals leading up to Clink Road Jn, foliage and other lineside obstructions plus the speed of the train make it hard to judge the signal head sizes.

And the signal head is capable of showing all four aspects, i saw that yesterday, although only for a flash, as the route worked through from Danger to Clear.

It's possible perhaps, although understand i'm not laying blame here, that whoever made the sim at first just went on the assumption that because the westbound exit from Frome is 3 aspect, it would be the same Eastbound?

All the plans for Westbury I have just show the signal location as a generic icon, without the normal range of aspects. I'm disinclined to change it at this stage unless we know for sure that it's a one-off 4A or what other signals are also needing changed.

I'm sure Simon and me could go out again on another cycle ride and get info for all the main signals between Frome and Fairwood Road or from Blatchbridge? Is this the area you would want info on Peter?

Between Frome and Fairwood Jn would be pointless Jay, as the signals between Clink and Fairwood Jn's are correct in the sim. Between Frome and Clink Rd Jn is where the big fat question mark is atm.

I'm not sure it would be possible to get photographic evidence of all 3 signals between Frome and Clink Rd jn by bike. We may need to try and find a kind driver who'd let one of us in the cab, or maybe knock on a few doors at Westbury and see if anyone would be willing to share information.
