Which era of the simulation are you using?

In the 1980s era mode there are just two platform and they are named 1 and 2 (1 the one on up and 2 the one on the down)

In modern era mode there is no platform 1.

Be sure to select the correct era for the timetable you are using.

Following on from this, I have noticed that the platform numbers in v2.202 are either wrong on the screen on on the backend. On a solo game today, I have noticed that when a train is timetabled to Platform 1 (1985 timetable, 1980s era), it counts as incorrect platform when it stops on Platform 1.

As far as I can see it's a problem with the backend. I'll try and capture a screen shot if I can of the next 1 at Bristol Parkway that does this.

This is a known bug which was reported on the old forum site.

As for the platform layout. In the 1980's era, there are two platforms as previously stated. As part of a modinisation project, there was the intention to increase the platform capacity to four platforms. At present this has only been increased to three. Platform 2 on the down line, platform 3 (Ex P1) on the up line, and platform 4 on the old up loop line. Due to finances, I very much doubt that the fourth platform (P1) will ever come to fruition.

Well unfortunately I do not really like looking through 2 separate forums when searching for bugs so I am sorry that I did only check this forum and not the old ones too. I would have thought, that if it was a known bug from the old forums, that it might have been fixed in the refresh?

I think the latest refresh was only to fix the "Test version expired" bug.

I have come up with the same problem here when doing a new timetable. Based on 1975 summer I have 1M07 Bristol to Manchester stopping at Bristol Parkway. It reports platform 1 as being wrong platform for the Up direction stop. I have then gone back and edited the timetable to show a stop on Platform 3 but on running it through again that has also now reported as wrong Platform.
Was this ever sorted or is it something that jst needs to be indicated in the timetable notes as a bug in the sim.

Yes the platform thing is a bug in the Sim, which can't be fixed by changing timetables. There is also a bug with the loading bays at Avonmouth BHT, once a train gets in there it won't come out, just reporting 0 mph. I did see in the old forum that there are no plans to release a new version so we just have to live with it. In fact it was Kurt in this message

but surely if Peter is refreshing the west country sims we shoulf have a new version and have BHT fixed too.

I can't see the BHT being just 'left' it's too big of a bug to leave and it would never be realistic to operate and load outside the hopper terminals.

In the Bristol 2005 v3.31 EASY timetable, 1B94 enters from Thingley Junction at 00:10. Its TT calls for it to arrive at Bristol Parkway 1. As there was no Platform 1 and certainly no easy way to get to the DN GDS or DN REC roads, I opted to route it to Platform 3 (actually, past it slightly to give it extra room to reverse should it need it). To my amazement, 1B94 meekly stopped at Platform 3 and reversed.

From then on it was a straightforward matter to set a new route for it to Severn Tunnel.

Comments:
- It seems from earlier posts that the bug is still in the sim and that editing the timetable won't fix it.
- I'm a bit irritated that the TT said nothing about reversing at Bristol Parkway; although one eventually reaches this conclusion, omitting REV from this line makes the TT anything but EASY.
It happens elsewhere on this TT, so I'd discourage beginners from attempting it.
- I offer this as a solution for the next person who strikes this problem.

Can anyone else offer alternative fixes? Should this TT be left as it is, showing Platform 1? Is there any currently agreed-upon procedure for what to do on encountering a TT asking for Platform 1?

I've nothing to do with BTM refresh/update- that's Kurt's baby.

It's still there because you are looking at the same version as then earlier posters.
Generally all platforms are interchangeable at common locations (e.g. station) so you should not be surprised that you could do what you did from any platform that has the required signalling in place even if its not the booked platform. The use of "REV" is generally confined to places that are reversing locations and not through locations; that is locations designed for reversing only. The fact that you can reverse at other locations should be obvious from the timetable and/or signalling and need no explanation.

Does this mean there's an updated version of Bristol where this is corrected? I thought v2.202 was the latest.

You will realise if you run Bristol in 1980 mode, Platform 3 was Platform 1. So this is just a minor oversight in the timetable, I am sure you could edit it if it bothers you!

When platform 4 was built, they decided to renumber, rather than calling the new one platform 0. (There is still a plan to put another face onto Platform 2 using the down goods loop and call it Platform 1, but I understand there is currently no funding for this.)

You seem surprised that the train reversed, but how else did you expect it to get to the severn tunnel? I realise you live in Australia so have probably never been to Bristol, but that is a standard move - platform 3 is often used for this, along with the new platform 4 when necessary.
