Turned Adblock off, first advert, 'Create an online store today' followed by B&Q Aberdeen. Now, I live in Wolverhampton and i've never been to Aberdeen or Googled/typed anything about Aberdeen.

The current ads are urging me to register to be a model. I wonder if they'd be so persistent if they actually met me?

I think it's to the content as well. I got a UK Corsets ad, not male ones though, and I can assure you I am not interested, although they may remove some of the excess relaxed muscle!

I've just got the corset ad myself, so I'm assuming it is picking up on the words on the pages - I haven't been looking at purchasing any corsets lately (or ever, for that matter). Hmm..... railway jobs  train tickets  train tickets to Newcastle  Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. Also, I note that there is the "Ads by Google" text between the SimSig logo and the advertising, but you'll note from the above screenshot that it doesn't really appear or stand out. Could the font-colour of it be changed to, perhaps, white? Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Adsense now have a section where you view the ads that have been shown. However, it only records once I set it up, so it's been running for about 12 hours now. I've had ads for big girls bras several times now. Wonder if it's trying to say something? SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

" said:Does it work out what you might want based on previous Google searches or anything like that?It seems to be a combination (not to be confused with combinations) of what you view for generally (not just with google as I don't use that one) and text on the page you are looking at. I'm now getting the bra adverts but I just changed my car and for a while I was getting adverts for the dealer I got it from just because I looked up their phone number. " said:Does it work out what you might want based on previous Google searches or anything like that?Hey, what are you insinuating?! But there is some truth in the methodology - there was a story quite recently about Google using your Google search results and any other Google products you use to provide more targeted advertising. I won't do it here as it's probably a violation of the terms but on another forum we bombarded the thread with certain keywords in an attempt to direct the advertising. To a certain degree it worked. There is a link within the ad to some control features where it looks like you can modify some factors and I think it tells you which cookie to delete. However, since this is a revenue generating tool for SimSig, please modify wisely! Peter Opps have now accidentally gone to a bra-site.......... hey-ho...... all in a good cause..... I've been seeing more misleading "Download now!" type adverts recently. Grabbed the link from the one I had just now:http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/aclk?sa=l&ai=CwHYVbQHoUePDMdLo8APa7IHACLGjvcMDqfGToGnAjbcBEAEg8NTYK1CZofOk_f____8BYLuOsIPQCqABn6SP2QPIAQKoAwHIA9EEqgSkAU_Q8un1BjWBdg23xjTAMu1woDm_TjXyLZ3jYAQbfRZLUKaQa9TLHwe4gJFWa9QfT6k7qhLLoJarwj32ZNw0BtopVbEfP-bdfeAi4Cqsel7s9ENZOhIK1rIlYuFlO7ZJU27QU5qUUx7G6YwrbHYwkbAGOdzEG99iJ4MWRAXbKRDu6yGADpYDYQo79nGPR4paXhr3Nmau6uSOSJUBREbyDOzsYHoCoAYCgAfJ2_Am&num=1&sig=AOD64_31SMQBNYkAltTmrWzA2q-IlWHWdA&client=ca-pub-5360071285305382&adurl=http://www.newzipopenerfun.com/gb/say/%3Fadnm%3D28174781225%26i%3Ds%26grid%3DYellow%26lg%3DEN%26cc%3DGB%26clg%3Den%26c%3D1%26d%3D0%26cid%3D_509773421%26kw%3Dzip%26mt%3D%26mn%3Dwww.SimSig.co.uk%26ct%3D%26nt%3DD%26expr%3D%26ap%3Dnone%26dv%3Dc%26color%3Dyellow%26agid%3D_5201531978&nm=2&mb=2&bg=!A0Qvf0jz9EA3yAIAAABCUgAAACwqANds0KB6av6m78epo7y3KbSx_fY9xUlTP-acX53xsr4IfcA6pqMJRoEXCj1qvwY-lpr3g2sJSAwCOKt86yGiG7uW1NUWRrVriLk3_xLzuUNjS-HXxaM0dTBrsir14kJuMraH1O6J4UAbFiXfdFGiDBuKvtK6n2LZLgWBm9Mue2DdZGUzbxc2YD1GCu78zZdst3JhgqzYUZ8vFuUTOcCyv82exX0Qi3VhiozDTaiyCow8pRsMWDWh9MVQO3Zi-9hs1EVIfcXqpr6j4dBhXTHy3lYM1eIKowYjuA

Nice to see SimSig keeping abreast of the latest signalling trends and outfits. ;) I hope visitors will be savvy enough to dissociate SimSig from the pernicious "freemium" games displayed in these ads. Last edited: 06/08/2013 at 08:52 by maxand Log in to reply |

Unfortunately these "download now" type of adverts are on the rise. Yes, I can take them down as they get reported, but is it worth my time in that the replacement ad might not be any better?! It does say "Ads by Google" immediately above, which is about as obvious as Google will allow. I have considered a "premium" version of the website where no ads are shown for a small sum per year. I'm not sure anyone would take up the offer though! SimSig Boss Log in to reply |
