Relatively inexperienced user here in search of help! Currently running Bristol 1985 v3.21 (starting at 00.00) in 1980s mode and very quickly come across a problem with 5E162 and 0E162; essentially 5E162 looks too long for platform 1. 5E162 has entered from Barton Hill (South) scheduled for platform 1. The loco has detached and run back to Barton Hill leaving the train at a stand in the platfom. 0E162 has then arrived at platform 3 from Pylle Hill (East) and detached from 5E161. The loco, which now appears trapped, is then scheduled to run out to East Inner Re (Path UDR) and back onto the train at platform 1, but I can't see how this should happen. Has anyone else had this problem? I suspect now I should have moved the loco from platform 3 before allowing 5E162 into platform 1. Still, 5E162 seems to be too long for the platform. Thanks in advance. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

Not quite sure how that happened! Open up F2, and if 5E162 is pointing in the Up direction, reverse it, and shunt it forward, if it's pointing in the Down direction, just shunt it forwards. This will make sure the train is right up against the buffers in the platform, and it should now fit.

Not sure how that happened either but your suggested solution is a good one! Clearly the train was not up against the buffers, but no idea why!

Hi, Just as a further suggestion, I tend to stop the part of 5E16 which comes from Pylle Hill in P4 rather than P3, and then shunt the section which comes from Barton Hill out of P1 on to it. The reason for this is that I have found that when the loco and the two parts of 5E16 couple in P3, it sometimes leads to the loco standing foul of the controlling signal, which adds a delay to 1E16 when it starts as the driver has to phone the signaller for permission to proceed in that case. If you stop the back half of 5E16 in P4, there is plenty of room for the front half to be coupled on using P3 to form 1E16, and the train can, if you wish, be shunted forward to the controlling signal, so that it departs from P3 as booked with no delay. Hope this helps and is clear, Tim Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Ben86 |

I also has this problem. 5E162 will stop no matter where it is as soon as 5E161 enters the sim. I got round this by holding the 5B13 at Pyell Hill East, this is train in front of 5E161 leaving the depot. Allow 5E162 to proceed to platform 1 (it does fit in there). Only then shunt 5B13 to its booked platform. As 5E161 enters both 5E161 and 5E162 have the same TT. The TT for 5E162 appears to vanish, which seems to be the problem. Hope this helps Log in to reply |

UKTrainMan, I understand what a sticky note is (R-click anywhere in a SimSig layout and select "Add Sticky Note"), but what is the difference between this and a "SmartSticky"? I understand what you just said but can't see how this might be an advantage. Forum search revealed no earlier posts using this term. Thanks.

Thanks.create a sticky and type anything in, lets say "delayed til 10:15" and you get a basic sticky note. enter a headcode which is valid from the timetable and the stickynote displays it as a link, and clicking on the link takes you straight to the timetable popup in question. Thanks, jc92. " said: (never come across the term smartsticky so I dont know if its slang or a technical term?)Nor had I, until I mentioned how cool it was (or said something about it during a multiplayer session) and someone referred to it as a smart sticky(s)/smartsticky(s) - something which I think it quite apt. for it really.
