" said:Look how they throw the levers about at EustonDoesn't really surprise me Chris, seems they've got two people working the one box with a large amount of levers each. Knowing how busy Euston is, or can get, it does not surprise me at all. Excellent film Chris, the commentry is very official though. Have the eagle eyed people like me spotted the cutting room errors.....11 minutes and 8 secs into the film just as she enters Crewe have a look at the cabside number.....oh dear oh dear it's a mirror image....a bit of cut and splice errors there I think.....is there any more? Interesting film, but did you notice in a couple of places some of the mood shots are reversed ie in LMS the S looks like a Z?

The clock has "Fenchurch Street" as its name. They show a TC indicator to indicate that the train is able to proceed! Log in to reply |

The Engine commences as 6207 , becomes 46212 leaving the shed , is a Coronation class loco backing onto the train , leaving Euston is a "Royal Scot" (46106) , a reversed image, whilst the loco arriving at Crewe is a "Coronation class" loco (6234) , then cuts to a reversed image of "Princess Royal" loco 46211 leaving Crewe. Amazingly, there was little changed indoors between the making of the film in 1946 and the cessation of the TPOs in 2004. The apparatus for picking up and dropping mail bags on the fly was last used in 1971, but apart from that the only significant changes were fluorescent lights and (unofficially) casual clothing instead of uniforms and regulation dust coats. Good to watch and brought back 10 years of my working life!
