Cockenzie gives me the slot and then lets a train out to the exit signal. I thought the slot was there to prevent this! This is the second time it's happened to me.

I think I know understand what you are asking. The slot at Cockenzie is a request to the signaler to allow a train out, if the slot is flashing and you press it, it gives permission for a train to move down to the exit signal (EA833) However if you need to send a train in to the power station, you first need to click the slot button and wait for the shunter at cockenzie to acknowledge, when he does it will turn a solid white and will allow you to set the route from either EA572 or EA568 "Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer Log in to reply |

The slot button at Cockenzie is only for the signaller to request permission to send Cockenzie PS (Power Station) a train. Trains from the PS will just enter automatically (at their booked entry times). Of course just because they have entered doesn't mean you have to route them instantly. If you happen to have a passenger train in the area then you may wish to hold back the train from Cockenzie PS to allow this passenger train to pass first. If a train enters from Cockenzie PS after you've asked for a slot and it [the slot] has been given then I think you should still be able to route a train into the PS anyway (if you need to). Hope this helps. Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. Log in to reply |

UKTrainMan, my understanding is the same as yours, but I can't route a train in when a train is standing at the exit signal - it's a single line (I checked on Google Maps, for what it's worth).

May need to tweak the logic- It's not physically possible to cross two trains nor to set conflicting routes but I guess granting a slot while a train is awaiting departure would be a bit silly but not unsafe per se. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Peter Just to close the circle, the original poster noted that he was granted a slot which was followed by a train appearing at the exit signal. Therefore the logic needs to go both ways (i.e. impossible for a train to enter once the slot has been granted). Slot data is supposed to block entry, it does now anyway. The new bit is that the slot will not be granted if there is a train present but can be requested Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |
