There are 2 different things to download. The "Help" and the "System files" If you have downloaded both the I suspect for some reason you are failing to properly execute the second. Have you tried running a sim to see if it works as you may have installed and not realised? Probably better if someone who has more recently successfully installed explain further their experience. I have downloaded help files and system files. In the start menu there is only a manual shortcut. In the SimSig directory there is a help directory, an uninstal data file and an uninstal exe file. Cheers Log in to reply |

JGB77 The system file doesn't put anything into the SimSig directory or create any menu items - it does things like install the font that puts in the graphics for the trackwork. To follow up from what Peter has asked, have you downloaded and run any of the sims yet. If you have and you see solid lines for the track, pointwork etc then the system files have installed correctly. If you see alphanumeric characters where there should be solid lines, then the system files have not been installed. Let us know how you are getting on. JGB You should have, when you have downloaded the system files, a file in whichever directory you use for your downloads, called "SimSigsystem_V2_103" If you can't locate it, do a search to find where it is. Double click on this file to execute and follow the instructions. It only takes a few seconds to "do the business" and you are all ready to run your sims. Hope this is of some help Neil Log in to reply |

hi Many thanks for your efforts. I have the file SimSigsystem_V2_103.exe Thisis the file I have tried 53 times to use to install. All I have is on the start menu (or just menu) is user manual. I have now downloaded two Kings Cross simulations and they appear in the file SimSig in program files with files which all start with uninst.... Not sure where to go from there Cheers Log in to reply |

You will need to "run" the Kings Cross simulation that you downloaded (kingsx_v2_201.exe). This will run the installer and if you follow through that you should end up with a "King's Cross" on the start menu.

Do a file search for a file named KingsX It will have a black square with some white lines inside it as the icon beside it. That is the program file you need to run. (I do not mean a folder titled KingsX which should also be there somewhere. Mine are in the Program files folder under Simsig. Click (or double click possibly) to run. If it isn't there somewhere the installation has not happened. jrr Log in to reply |

Or just running the installer program ('Run' or 'Open' the download, depending on browser) should install the simulation directly.

Hi I have found the files on an old hard drive and I have copied them across and put them in SimSig directory. KingsX.exe was part of this copy. It does not show up anywhere else on my machine. I dont think it was extracted from the folder. I am now limping a little but back to running my kingsX simulation Cheers Log in to reply |

JGB77 Can we take 5 minutes to recap. 1. You are worried because you don't think that the system files have installed because you have no menu item except for the User Manual. Other postings have already given the information that the system files do not create any menu items. 2. Even though the SimSig installer files are not creating sims on your system, you have managed to copy sims across from an old disk which you are now managing to run. 3. Again as has been explained, if you can see the correct graphic display, the system files have been installed - if you see alphanumeric characters instead the system files have not worked. As you are "limping along" with Kings Cross, I presume that you have a proper graphics display. Can I therefore ask what the problem now is, just in case anyone is willing to try and help in solving whatever is now giving you concern.
