Will there ever be a Birmingham Sim? Seems to be the keystone of all the sims. I imagine it wouldnt be just one.

Of course if the information's available everything between Birmingham & Euston would be nice. Presumably would have to be several historic sims (1960s - 1980s). That's fine by me, '80s was when I was active in that part of the world. Chain to Stafford as well. Then all it needs is Stoke, Crewe Manchester & a North London style sim for all the mech frames & OCS panels between Crewe & Manchester. Well I can dream can't I? Log in to reply |

If any signalling knowledge is required please feel free to contact me, i worked at New St for 10 years and still work for Network Rail as a signal Engineer in the midlands area. Several alterations have taken place at Birmingham such as platform 4C, an extra crossover at International plus the speed inprovements which encompass flashing aspects and preliminary route indicators. The west dock is to be taken out this Christmas to make way for the new station (gateway)

It shows you the general layout of the area!! I think providing detailed screenshots would probably take up too much of the developer(s) time, the overview screenshot is a quick thing to do. With any detailed screenshot(s) there may be things that the developer(s) would want to have removed or hidden and that'd surely take time which could be better used actually developing the simulation itself. Personally I'm happy to drool over the overview screenshot for the time being. I don't know.As far as I can recall from what I have previously been told, the dots may be accurate based on how many signallers work each shift or how many workstations there are. If you look at the screenshot you can see what appears to be at least three workstations marked out by the green lines. Of course that might be wrong, so if it is then the dots are probably just to 'simulate'/'pretend'/'imagine' that three signallers are there working the 'box. By the way; - Trent has three dots, not one. - There is no "Platform 14" at B'ham New Street - the station only has 13 platforms in use. The 'box on the screenshot is located to the right of Platform 12B and also the 'West Dock'/'Western Dock'. I'm sorry if I'm displaying staggering amoutns of stupidity, but what is the symbol just to the right of P14 at the top? It's 3 dots with a bracket going over all of them. I've seen something similar on other sims, but with just the one dot. Thanks, Sam Sam Wainwright Log in to reply |

Ah! Makes sense, with the screens/panels slightly wrapped round at the ends. I'm going to resist speculating on reasons for the number of dots as the closest I've ever been to the inside of a box is going past on a train! Sam Sam Wainwright Log in to reply |

That's the place of the PSB, where the signallers sit when they are at work. Why this one has 3 dots? Maybe there are 3 signalmen at Birmingham PSB? But Trent sim has only one dot. I don't know.
