Lime Street general query 27/11/2011 at 21:15 #23816

Hi all, what a nice 'pocket-sized' sim! Compact but no doubt scope for problems depending on the scenario selected.
Small query - For some reason I assumed that a departure time written thus, 05+20, meant that the train could depart earlier than booked time. I just signalled 5F10 to depart but no movement, cancelled the road and got an adverse aspect error. Confirmation of my assumption much appreciated.
Cheers,
Mal.

"Could" isn't necessarily the same as "would". You can either "cheat" by going into the TT and setting the Current/Next location to the next timing point, after which the train will start moving, or you can wait for a TRTS or phone call indicating that the train is ready to move.

05+20 is what is commonly used as time of departure from origin station for ECS only

The + in a WTT time indicates a non-passenger train, so it could depart early in theory. However, it can't go without the Driver - so pull off early with care! Best idea is to wait for TRTS to confirm that he's ready to go.

Thanks all. Points taken. Probably should have asked this as one of my questions at the Meet, lol!

What not to do with number 14?
"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

In the real world, an ECS move will usually want to leave early, especially if the driver is going off duty after that journey. However, a train cannot leave without a driver, and the TRTS tells you there is a driver there ready to go! I've seen empties TRTS 20 mins early before, but you cannot always let them leave early without causing delays.
