Hi all - in the wiki it says Gloucester chains with Saltley but when I attempt to chain Saltley to Gloucester it says this is not possible. Am I doing something wrong or are further updates in the offing to enable this chain to work. Thanks! Nick Log in to reply |

Gloucester requires a core code update before it can be chained to Saltley.

I think in this case at the time of writing the two were compatible but improvements to Saltley have meant that they are no longer compatible for the time being. Sorry.

Just as a general question, do the sims require the same core code, or just be coded to chain to another sim?

Just to be coded. A prime example of this is Bristol and Exeter, Exeter is a recent re-release with new core code (Has F11 ect) Bristol is older core code.

Actually there have been some core code changes that have altered the network code meaning sims no longer chain until rebuilt. Gloucester and Saltley are two such sims. Log in to reply |

The sim versions need to be on almost-the-same core code AND need to be coded to chain to each other. It all depends on the sims concerned and the core code used to build each sim. Log in to reply |

Very old sims used a different chaining mechanism. Since then, the chaining logic hasn't changed. Sims need to know about each other before they can chain, but all versions of the core code with the current logic are compatible with each other. Recent versions will report if the chaining data seems inconsistent between the two sims, but will make a best attempt to continue the chain. Log in to reply |

Sorry for bumping this, but is fixing Gloucester a big job? Or something that could be achieved quite easily?
