Sadly can't make it this year... will be on a slow boat to Burton (on-Trent); no doubt some research will be done but it won't be research (if you see what I mean)

Yaaay, managed to arrange my flights. I am going to attend the meeting. My body will be there, not sure about my mind though. Coming from Hong Kong via Dubai and I finally arrive 07:00 Saturday morning after a mind blowing 7090miles.... Is that a record ?

Bookings are now being taken in the Events page. You should pay in advance in the recently refurbished Shop to save yourself a couple of pounds!

Not too sure whether I can make before lunchtime that day - can one turn up at a reduced price (taking into account the hire of the room without the food) for a reduced fee. Sounds like one's being a bit tight but the earliest I think I can make it is about 2pm

Yes, the Wiki section on the meet mentions that you can turn up after 3pm for a reduced fee of £2. However, this isn't payable in advance; on the door only.

Nath, probably something around 0930/1000, giving plenty of time to cross London. Will have to check TfL webby nearer the time incase they are digging up the LUL again.

Sam, trains from Tilehurst usually arrive at Reading at xx28 + xx58 IIRC on Platform 9.

Bus 205 virtually door to door if the underground is not playing.

Well, here's the current status for London Underground engineering works for the weekend of the meet.

Thanks to ImageShack.us for the free image hosting

However bear in mind that for last years meet the planned engineering works had changed closer to the weekend of the meet so don't count on it yet!

We need the following volunteers to help out on the day:

Meeters and Greeters

These people will stand by the entrance door and register everybody entering. Their names will be checked off a list and if they haven't paid in advance they will be required to pay before entering. Namebadges will be handed out by the meeters and greeters. New people in particular will be told about what happens during the day.

Four volunteers wanted; two at a time for half hour shifts, each doing two shifts. After 2pm one should be located near the door to spot anyone new coming in, but do not need to be physically present, just to keep an eye out.

Tour guides

These people will be familiar with the simulations running on the day. They will answer questions and roam around, helping people as necessary.

Two volunteers wanted on-demand for the whole afternoon, but the nature of this means it's not continuous (on demand).

Technical

Though we have one networking expert, another will be useful. They will be responsible for allocating laptops to workstations and their physical location in the room. They will help the networking expert trouble shoot any issues as they arise.

One volunteer wanted, from 11:30 until all the simulations are running, and then as required during the afternoon.

Roster clerk

To ensure everyone who wants a session on a simulation, the roster clerks will allocate sessions to people. They will check that shy or new people have been offered a place, as these people are not necessarily forthcoming in asking for a place and we don't want to leave them out. At the start of each session, the roster clerks will go around and allocate places for the next session.

Two volunteers wanted on a rotating basis - each can organise alternate sessions. The positions are wanted all afternoon but the nature of this task is a 10 minute job every 1½ hours.

Any offers appreciated!

I've helped out with technical in the past and am happy to assist again if required.

Dependant on sims used at the meet I would also be happy to be a tour guide.
