James,

The Derby 'South Panel' you referred to in your post is officially known as the West Panel. This panel extends from Elford as far as just short of Melbourne Jn. From there to the north end of Derby Station is the Centre Panel, and from there to Stretton is officially the North Panel. These days the Centre and North panels are worked by one signaller, many years ago when it was much busier the North panel had its own signaller.

While the line towards Birmingham does run in a virtually south-south-westerly direction, to call it the south panel would cause confusion as trains south from Derby to London (actually more south-east) depart via Spondon. Derby Station is theoretically L-shaped as the two ends are referred to as north end and west end. There was a 'West End Dock' and when we used to shunt mail trains there the shunting job which shunted the west end was called the 'West End Jocko'.

Phil.

I've started the ball rolling here (on the WIKI).

Hopefully UKTM will add his group photo when he has a mo. :)
Group photograph is now up and I believe suitably sized for the page. If you click on the photo itself you can view it slightly larger and if you click on it again you can view it even larger! Apologies for not doing it sooner, I was out on both Sunday and Monday.

Now just need someone to do their magic with the outline thingy and we can show who is who.

Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for.

Just like to add my thanks to all those involved in organising the meet. Those who know we know that this sort of thing isn't easy for me, and I'd like to say I really enjoyed it and felt most welcome.

Whether or not I can attend in November depends if the date clashes with the Joint Line Diversions through Lincoln or not.

God bless, Daniel Wilson

Thanks to all those that have thanked us, and to the developers providing the sims, and others that helped out in varying ways. I won't try to name them as I'm bound to miss one out!

Next time we'll check that the pub hasn't been refurbished since the previous inspection. As it happens it worked out quite well but it did cause some consternation when we turned up to find it had changed!

I've uploaded the Group photo face outline to the wiki. I've also started the table of names by filling in the ones I know.

I would like to echo thanks to Geoff and the rest of the team for organizing the meet. I was able to make this one and it was great to meet the usual suspects (all my testing team for a start) as well as see some new faces.

I'd also like to add special thanks to the following people personally:
Andy (AndyG) for the South Humberside maps that he made up specially for me to take home. They will be on the wall at home in due course.
Noel (NoisyNoel) for supplying the timetable.
Daniel (OnlyDJW) for his significant input into correcting some inaccuracies.
My test team who it was great to see all in one place at one time.
Clive, for spending some time going over some data issues I been having with AHB's.
Neil (panelbeater) for my box of PG tips!
Pascal for information on earlier signalling layouts for SH 19980's mode,

And last but not least, anyone else I haven't mentioned for making the meet such a great event.

As has already been mentioned, South Humberside was run again at this meet. This time an version 88 which is an update to the previous public release with a bunch of fixes and some changes. It ran pretty flawlessly all afternoon till the wireless network went down......

There were a number of minor issues which I shall correct in due course. The full release to everyone will then be made (Don't expect anything this week as I only got home late Sunday night and my bags still remain unpacked in the kitchen!!!). That should cover the modern mode but there is still work to be done on the 1980's mode. That will be added in a future version.

For those who I spoke to - I passed the assessments the following Monday to level 3 (which is the highest level), had the next stage last Friday, but the answer was no.

(Note - if you don't know what this means, don't worry about it, and don't ask - it's for those who did know!)

God bless, Daniel Wilson
