I have just learned of the passing of Dave Maloney, driver and instructor on the London Underground District line, known to many in the railway circle as District Dave. Dave was one of the people who got me interested in signaling, and his website taught me a lot. My condolences go to his wife and family.

From Dave's forum

"It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Dave Maloney, known to us all as "District Dave" and the first founder of this site, passed away peacefully at his home this morning following several months illness.

As members of Dave's "internet family" we are all deeply saddened by his passing and we are sending condolences to his wife and family.

The Forum Adminstrators have been in touch with Dave's family and they are aware of this thread which we'd like you all to treat as a book of condolence for Dave.

That's sad to hear. He was a big supporter of SimSig. Condolences to his family.
