Cancelling offered routes 27/03/2011 at 19:07 #2684

I incorrectly routed 6M42 towards Creswell box, and offered (and accepted) the line from Worksop, leaving the instruments green. When I got the wrong route call, I could alter the route from Shireoaks East Junction, and cancel all the signals, but can't cancel the accepted block route - and subsequently can't re-release the route for 2D00 which is now stuck at a red signal!

How can I cancel the token to re-set the signal?

There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

Never mind, worked it out eventually - once I realised i had to wait for the override! I'd just been clicking everything in sight.

Which also gives the 500 point penalty; and combined with doing it twice now has meant I've got a negative score right now!

Yep, I believe it is a case of waiting circa 5 minutes then once you get the override given message you, I think, right click on the relevant Normalise button and it'll be back to normal.

Hope this helps.

Sounds very much like the real thing but with a slightly different sequence of events. The block instrument (in reality) would be restored to 'normal' upon receipt of '3-5', then the release would have to be operated (normally winding the 'hurdy-gurdy', not sure whether some installations have a timed release instead, but it'd probably be two minutes or less in either case) before a further 'line clear' could be given. I've not yet had chance to try it in the sim (too busy with the real thing - real absolute block I mean, not the real Worksop) at the weekend!), but what's the 50-point penalty for? Cancelling a train off to the 'box in advance is completely within the provisions of the signalling regs, so you're not doing anything wrong in that.

Agree with Tom in penalty like that being inappropriate - getting the road from the wrong box is no worse than setting a wrong route, and provided aspects aren't reversed in the driver's sight there's no penalty for putting back. Agreed also that cancelling something offered/on line is perfectly legit (provided the section is clear, of course).

I also think the release time is too long. I used to be able to wind out a Welwyn Release in well under a minute - and that's only where Welwyn Control exists (it wasn't fitted everywhere by any means). Of course you also have to release the block after a shunt, either under 3-3-2 bell code (the old Reg 31) or by offering a train and then sending 3-5 after it enters the section & draws back clear. That is a pain in the proverbial when Welwyn Control is fitted... when trains of the West Coast Main Line changed from electric to diesel traction at Mitre Bridge Junction, North Pole had to give four successive line clears, winding out after the first three! There's no way that could have been worked if it had taken 5 minutes to clear the block each time.

Apart from that, I think this is an excellent innovation... Simsig Historic here we come!

read all replies re cancelling offered routes and no solutions work for me. I have probably compounded problem! 1) offered train Cresswell to Shirebrook. 2) clicked flashing green button, changes to steady green. 3) set signals for train which clears section and goes on it's merry way 4) FORGOT to press red button to signal train on line 5) waited for over 10 mins but over ride button never appears. How do I get out of this one ????

Could the sim simulate winding out by use of the scroll wheel on the mouse ?

Right click OVR in Shirebrook then after approx 4 mins the flashing OVR will go steady white - when this happens click the N at Creswell this will reset the block

Passed the age to be doing 'Spoon Feeding' !!!
