Current/Prev location 11/01/2012 at 20:10 #27113

I've had a couple of TCFs which I had to work around by abandoning the timetables of some trains. I've noticed that, even though they're still moving around (off timetable), the 'Current/Prev location' field on the train list sticks at where they were when I abandoned the timetable - I'm fairly sure it keeps updating on other sims.

Perhaps relatedly: one TCF was stopping trains on the Down Camp Hill from turning left at Bordesley Junction, just as I got a load of class 5s from New Street going back to Tyseley. I parked a few of them up around Duddeston and Landor Street Junctions to keep them out of the way of other trains on the Down Camp Hill. Now the track circuit has been fixed and I'm starting to move them again, they're all phoning in 'incorrect route'. Interestingly I hadn't abandoned these from their timetables, just reversed them, but now I have because answering 'Bypass Bordesley Jn and then keep to timetable' doesn't seem to work.

Just a thought, but for the wrong route problem, try playing around with the 'Set next/previous location' button- the train may *think* it's somewhere that it isn't.

That's what I'd normally do but wouldn't that have the same effect as 'Bypass Bordesley Jn and then keep to timetable'?

Ah, hadn't thought of that.

If you reversed them have you A> turned them back to travel in the correct direction again? B> checked that Bordesley Junction is their next location otherwise they would be trying to reach whichever location is next on their timetable prior to "Bypass Bordesley Jn and then keep to timetable" kicking in.

Yes.

I don't think that should be an issue. I'll give an example: I think it was track circuit T180 occupied with the route locked for the Down Camp Hill. 5A16 came in from Proof House and wanted to go to Tyseley but couldn't. There were trains coming in behind it wanting to go towards Gloucester, so I got a bit creative (yes, I know this wouldn't really be allowed!) and brought 5A16 up to signal 86, locked the points behind it and reversed it to run wrong-road to shunt signal 451 at Landor Street and then crossed it to the Bank Engine Sidings to park there until I could get it on its way again. When it was time to set off it was still showing Current/prev location as St Andrews Jn (the last booked location it was at, although not its current location) and it refused to move past 456 because it wanted a route for Bordesley Jn.

On other sims, wrong route calls only seem to happen at the last point(s) where it's taking the wrong one of 2+ routes. If a train suddenly finds itself in the wrong place (e.g. because it's been reversed, or had a new timetable assigned) it usually trundles along following the signals until it picks up its timetable again. In this case it was routed in the right general direction for where it needed to be, and I've just reconstructed it from a save and tried setting its next location to St Andrews Jn (the nearest location and also the place where it went off route) - no joy.
