Gloucester is my favourite sim because it is relatively straightforward for a single player and because I grew up in the area. The sim is great as it is but if and when a next release is planned, my wish list would include: - gradients (let's see trains grinding up the Lickey!) - ground frames (including those that no longer exist, such as Stroud - useful for seeding!) - an option to use the 1968 to 1975/6 layout, including Gloucester Eastgate station and the junction with the Honeybourne line With regard to the last of these, I have a 1970/71 WTT, which is a fascinating historical document. The Honeybourne line only seemed to be used for Sunday diversions, which reversed into / out of Cheltenham station. Another of the "they wouldn't allow that now" practices, I should imagine! I believe trains are affected by the gradients, even if we do not have a display to show this.

Gradient data can be included in a sim but its not a requirement. It's also relatively easy to obtain and include. Trains will be affected by it if its included and you can see it using F2 though its not necessarily obvious that's whats happening. I don't think ground frames were available when Gloucester was released. Data is likely to be available for this also. The ability to easily add era's probably didn't exist when Gloucester was released. However, old layouts are a lot more difficult to do mainly due to problems sourcing data for a given period. If the data is available, then there it's more likely to get added but its not a given as doing era's can get very complicated. Log in to reply |

If memory serves me correctly, Sheffield was the first sim to include different eras, and it will have been released prior to Gloucester, Sheffield being the last IECC-type paged sim.

If memory serves me correctly, too, Trent was the first sim to include working gradients, and Gloucester preceded that. However, on Saltley, you can see the effect the Lickey has on a train - open the train list when a train enters at Bromsgrove and watch its speed. Log in to reply |

Oh and I almost forgot. Could the position of the signal at the Lydney end of Platform 1 be corrected so you can get a 2+8 HST in there!
