Apologies if this is dealt with elsewhere, but I prefer to run Simsig in Windows mode for ease of minimising the screen to open something else. Is there anything I can do to make the display fill the screen? At the moment it is only just over half-screen and it won't let me use the usual 'size arrows' to drag the display to fullscreen. Can't see it covered in the User manual either, unless I'm looking with one eye shut. Thanks again to all you helpful guys.

As far as i know paged SimSigs are of a fixed size - scrolly ones wont have this problem but NLL has not been released as scrolly yet.

Hi Lordmwa and thanks for that. I think I prefer the paged sims as with NLL I have now got the screen/route order firmly in my head. I do prefer Windows mode so I'll stick with it. Cheers.

The decision as to whether a sim is paged or scrolly is down to the developer. Some prefer paged so some sims which are currently paged may stay paged and new sims may be released as paged. Personally I'm not too bothered either way.

You can make NLL full screen!

- Load up the simulation and start a new game (you don't need to select a timetable to do this) or load a previous game and pause it.

- Press F3 and go to the Display tab.

- Untick Windowed mode.

- Close the simulation completely then restart it again and hey presto it should be full screen.

A few notes though....

- All of the other paged simulations (Cambridge, Didcot, Drain, LivSt, Waterloo, Peterborough, Royston, Sheffield, Stafford, and finally Swindon - I think that is all of them) will also be full screen.

- For myself on Windows XP, sometimes running the paged simulations full screen has caused a few issues...although this is not always the case with all of the paged simulations, perhaps only a few of them. For example, say I already had my Internet browser open or minimized to the toolbar whilst running a SimSig simulation, I would click on a headcode in the game and the timetable pop-up wouldn't appear, forcing me to alt-tab out of the game to view the timetable pop-up. This sort of problem doesn't present itself when running a paged simulation in Windowed mode, and again it doesn't present itself if nothing else is open or minimized to the toolbar. If I recall correctly, one of the paged simulations that this problem occurs on is Sheffield, but there may well be others too.

Personally, although I'd rather run a paged simulation full screen, I run them in Windowed mode to save any hassles.

I believe this might be one of these so-called 'Catch 22' situations.

Hope this helps, if only somewhat.

Hi, thanks for that, but I may not have put my query correctly. I've sussed how to go into and out of Windows mode, but when I'm in Windows mode I don't get the 'double arrow' to let me drag the window to full screen and also the info line (Menu, Msg, etc is covered by my bottom taskbar. Just wondered if it's possible to resize the screen horizontally when in Windows mode to give me a full-width screen and also adjust it vertically to let me see the info line. Apologies if my explanation is lacking something (as is my old brain, lol!)

NLL in the released form is paged and thus has a fixed window size. However, you can run another instance of NLL and run it in client/server so you have two windows - though it sounds like you wouldn't be able to see the whole of both windows simultaneously.

An alternative to doing that is that you could click & drag the window so that the title bar 'drops' off the top of the screen. This is what I personally do with the paged simulations and this allows me to see the area at the bottom.

That off course won't work on Windows 7 though.

I've used Vista Home Premium and it copes with everything I've thrown at it for the past couple of years.

I don't know on Vista but on 7 when you drag to the top of the screen the window just goes to full screen.
