Chaining to Bristol/Exeter from Westbury problem 26/05/2011 at 10:10 #3094

Hello all,

Me and my partner tried to start a chaining game with Bristol and Westbury (scrolly) last night which resulted in Bristol and Exeter being used instead.

Now the problem we had was it would not connect at all. I was on port 50505 on Bristol, and he was on 50507 on Westbury. Now, if he tried to connect to me, I would get an error message reading 'InternalError Exeption in HandleMessage (I think) GARIZZWSB (with something else meaning Bristol at the end).

If I tried to connect to Westbury, he wouldn't have a message of any form, just the message box saying I was connected and in the control box, it just says establishing connection. We also tried the sync time on and off, and also swapped the ports around so that I was 50507 and Westbury was 50505, but the same errors occured. So we tested the idea of Exeter to Westbury and had all the same errors, so we tried Exeter to Bristol and if that didn't work we knew if our connection was wrong but it did work successfully first time with no changes.

I am pretty sure that we have done a huge chain with Exeter -> Westbury -> Bristol -> Gloucester before and using the Westbury scrolly, but I can't figure out how or when! Is Westbury to Exeter or Bristol connection supposed to work? Is it broke? Or maybe I am missing something completely?

Any help greatly appreciated!

James.

Can't recall the detail but from memory I'm not sure Westbury has ever been released in the "refresh" form that the others were a few years ago. It maybe therefor that the builds you have and chaining data are incompatable.

Ahhh we could have been chaining to Bristol in its early scrolly days before the refresh and when Avonmouth BHT was working etc, so that could have been it!

Thanks for that Peter
